Title: Halo 2? www.ilovebees.com
Post by: kos.viper on July 28, 2004, 04:46:24 am
Thought I might post this for the Mac xbox users who haven't heard of it yet.  Apparently somebody hacked this person's website.  It shows a countdown timer and reads:

"Halt -- Module Core Hemorrhage

Control has been yielded to the
SYSTEM PERIL DISTRIBUTED REFLEX

This medium is classified, and has a STRONG INTRUSIVE INCLINATION.

PHASE 1 COMPLETE: Network throttling has eroded.

In 14 days this medium will metastasize.

COUNTDOWN TO WIDE AWAKE AND PHYSICAL: (the page shows a timer counting down from 30 days.)

Make your decisions accordingly.

Now the connection with Halo 2 you might ask?  Well, if you haven't done so already, find the Halo 2 trailer they have been showing in some theaters.  At the end where the xbox logo shows up (www.killersonspree.com/normal.pdf (http://www.killersonspree.com/normal.pdf)), it switches from "www.xbox.com" (www.killersonspree.com/switching.pdf (http://www.killersonspree.com/switching.pdf)) to "www.ilovebees.com" (www.killersonspree.com/ilovebees.pdf (http://www.killersonspree.com/ilovebees.pdf)) and back again in a time of one frame.

lol? As long as it doesn't mess with Halo 2, I don't care what some hacker does. :)

Btw Viper, I preordered GhR 2 and Fable today, debating on whether to purchase Madden or RS3 Black Arrow when they release.

Didn't know there was a R63 Black Arrow game coming out for xbox.  I'm waiting for Shell Shock '67 and eventually Brothers in Arms and one more game to come out, but I can't remember which, I will have to consult my bro Kirok about that, hes the King of xbox gaming news.  :)

I'm with IGN on this one.. . it's ad campaign. Why would a bee farmer add words like this in her Meta tag

<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="honey, bees, Margaret, small busines, beekeeping, hives, retail, market, Operator, bug, buggy, virus, infestation, WTF is going on with this damn thing, parasite, strong intrusive inclination, medium, messages, shipwreck, network throttling, SOS, hoax, game, bee hoax, bee game, survivor, survive, evade, resist, escape, a little help would be appreciated, thanks and tip your waitress, sleep, is, good, install, reinstall, re-reinstall, re-re-reinstall, I, love, bees">

Even if she added them after this "hacker took over" which is very unlikely, "Shipwreck" has nothing to do with the problem at the site, but if I understood correctly has something to do with the plot of Halo 2.

woot. is there any schedule for halo 2? i may just have to buy an xbox one of these days.

Some think there is going to be some demo cd released at the end of the countdown timer.  And the answering machine that IGN got when they called the number on the site went straight to voicemail, no rings.

Hmm, I missed those meta tags.  I went straight on to the counter at the bottom of the code.

I want a demo really bad, but it might take away from the overall appeal from the game. Oh well, I want one anyway.

This been out for awhile now, but all that stuff you read is mystery set up by Bungie. Its like the Matrix, more you find, the farther down the rabbit hole you go.

I'll wait until the second step occurs. Something has to happen or a lot of people will be pissed that they followed this.

Nothing like a good ploy to raise yet more attention for the game...in a way?

Title: Re:Halo 2? www.ilovebees.com

I doubt the game has had any pre-orders anyways.

I have no doubt Halo 2 will be a good game. Remember the original Halo that was Mac first? That would have changed things a lot. Someone should try something like that these days, something that looks better than Doom 3 and Unreal 3 combined. That will be the end of PC dominance.

Just found an article on this whole mystery so you jartards can follow it further.

I love when companies do it. Game news site should stay out of it and let the people on forums guess about it. They ruin the fun.

Did anybody ever read the Cortana letters?  If you compare the two, in terms of how utterly creepifying and strange they are, it matches right up with the ilovebees.com site, and all things contained therein.

This kind of thing is -right- up Bungie's ally, if you ever played all the way through Marathon 2 and (especially) Infinity, text like this also pops up left and right on Terminals.  Especially the text youll find in the level's "Kill your television" and "Feel The Noise" (in particular the one term. where Durandal is talking about his past)

I think the real reason Bungie is doing this is more to just screw with our heads than get marketing done on the cheap, though that is always an added bonus.  People are anticipating this enough to generate their own hype and hysteria, but just a little napalm on the fire never hurt anything...well, ok yes it did, but nevermind that =)

Right, im going to stop before i start reminiscing about the 'ol Marathon days  :)  ::) :P :-[

Heh, use your imagination, people. It's a transmission from the good people in the future on earth being attacked by the Covenant! All this jibber-jabber about "escape resist survive shipwreck scallwag poopsex" is about Earth's call for help! And stuff like that. duh!

In 12 days the invasion begins, and these are only echos of the future.

Lone is absolutely correct. Anybody who thinks this isn't made by Bungie is barking up the wrong tree. It's precisely Bungie's style. http://marathon.bungie.org/story/

Title: Re:Halo 2? www.ilovebees.com

Well, it has to be Microsoft/Bungie related because it appeared in the official Halo 2 trailer.

As I said it's a neat idea, but the news companies should stay out of it or play along. Let us have our fun.

Well this whole thing has heated up a bit.. sorry to bring back an old topic.

http://www.ilovebees.com/links.html

Check that out, apparently there are 210 pay phones spread out across the US, and those pay phones ring at an exact minute at different times and someone asks you for their name or nickname, it's either Melissa or Operator, respectively. Then they ask you the code name of the "group" of locations for that 21 minute or so time frame. After you respond correctly to both question, apparently "Axons" go hot and a new .wav file is unlocked on the website and supposedly piece together when all sets of Axons go hot.

If this makes no sense to you, I advise you read abit more about it here: http://forums.xbox.com/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=154
Also, I advise you not to look into it if you don't have a bit of time on your hands. It's quite confusing. (did i mention addicting?)

EDIT: The register for the forums is simple, just put in a name you don't need to get a confirmation email or anything, just put the name you want (if you are gonna post)

lol... turns out there's a phone in my area, just one town over, in the "message_saved" code group.

But that group is already 2/2, so I don't need to bother.

Been watching the site for a while. Since the countdown finished I have been listening to the audio files that are getting unlocked.

Pretty cool but so far most of the audio flies mean nothing. Unless Halo 2 is far more in-depth story than the first one.

What do you think it all means? It better give me someting about Halo 2 as I followed it pretty much all of yesterday.

In other news, I saw the first ever shown Halo 2 tournament footage. Too bad the player who played sucked so bad he kept dying.

I'd give you fellas the link but it appeared to have disappeared. It was about 123 MB. If I find a later link or BT file, I will provide it.

Well everything is 2/2 and we just let the nerds decode the .wav files and shit. and it's at 103/777 Axons quite a ways to go anyway. November 9th will be here before that is over.

The axons don't total 777, there's only 140 odd ones. I think 777 is a representation for bungie.

The number 7 has great significance in the Marathon universe. You fellows should really read the Marathon Story Page. Bungie's got some great writers.

I know but i think they put it at a later release date so that they could get like 5 million copies made. I think there is already like 3-4 million preorders. Not sure though just speculation.
