Title: Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 20, 2004, 02:00:24 am I realize anime isn't very popular in this community, but I feel that I should bring a couple of series to your attention on the grounds that they are intense as hell. Well, one of 'em is. The other, I've just started on but it looks as though it's going to be right up there with the first.
The first is "Now and Then, Here and There", and it's so intense it will hurt your brain. Here's the link to the torrent of the full series: http://tracker.stfu.ca/torrents/[V-A]%20Now%20and%20Then,%20Here%20and%20There%2001-13+Extras.torrent. (I can't use the url tag thanks to the brackets in the url) This series is excellent and I think will strike a chord with many in the community, given our focus on war games. The second series is called Monster, and it's brand new to 2004. Looks damn promising. Episode 1 torrent (http://a.scarywater.net/akeep/%5BAnime-Keep%5D_Monster_-_01_%5B30C63782%5D.avi.torrent), Episode 2 torrent (http://a.scarywater.net/akeep/%5BAnime-Keep%5D_Monster_-_02_%5BDDF581E0%5D.avi.torrent), Episode 3 torrent (http://a.scarywater.net/akeep/%5BAnime-Keep%5D_Monster_-_03_%5B2CCABD03%5Dv2.avi.torrent). There are currently 14 episodes, if you like it, you can find the rest of the links yourself, or ask me. : ) I saw this in the list while I was linking Monster, and it falls into the "intense" category as well. It's also got b00bz. Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (http://a.scarywater.net/lunar/%5BLunar%5D_Kimi_Ga_Nozomu_Eien_1-14(complete).torrent). Note that that torrent is for all 14 episodes, or 2.66 GB. Episode 1 individual download (http://a.scarywater.net/lunar/%5BLunar%5D%20Kimi%20Ga%20Nozomu%20Eien%2001%20%5B06463CAD%5D.avi.torrent), Episode 2 (http://a.scarywater.net/lunar/%5BLunar%5D%20Kimi%20Ga%20Nozomu%20Eien%2002%20%5B3C6E6223%5D.avi.torrent), Episode 3 (http://a.scarywater.net/lunar/%5BLunar%5D%20Kimi%20Ga%20Nozomu%20Eien%2003%20%5B5776AFAC%5D.avi.torrent). Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: "Sixhits" on July 20, 2004, 03:35:55 am How do I get torrent to work?
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Zander-dawg on July 20, 2004, 04:09:16 am Yeah, I can't get torrent to work either. I have a Mac running OSX. Is that the problem? Monster sounds good.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: seth on July 20, 2004, 04:09:56 am i'm giving it a try, Monster episode 1. For those wondering, its 175 MB
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 20, 2004, 05:39:39 am If you haven't used BitTorrent before, you need to download a BitTorrent client, either the plain-vanilla one, Azureus (my weapon of choice), or another. Once you've got that, download the .torrent file, and open it with the client. Things should proceed from there.
If that's not your problem... the Monster episode 1 link downloads a .torrent when I click it, and that's the same torrent I used to get the episode for myself, so it should be functional. Lemme know what your symptoms are precisely, and I'll do my best to troubleshoot. Zander, I do too, it's all good. BT is cross-platform. Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: BFG on July 20, 2004, 10:46:15 am Loth could you give us a bit more infomation about this progs? like what is Monster about... ?! :)
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 20, 2004, 11:49:06 am To be honest, I don't know myself. Monster was recommended to me by a friend whose judgement in anime I trust ("in my opinion, the best anime of 2004"), and I'd heard the name a couple of times before. I've only watched the first episode due to work and Neverwinter Nights whoring, so I can't say much for certain. Here's what I do know: the main character is a brilliant neurosurgeon, the voice acting is excellent and the way facial expressions are rendered is compelling, and the direction reminds me of an AAA Hollywood movie--a perfect balance of suspense with respect to plot advancement. I'm going to be watching another episode or two tonight (the friend hooked me up with the first 8 eps), so I'll post more on it later.
Now and Then, Here and There and Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien are both the sort of show where any but the most sparse plot summary will take away surprises, both big and little. Now and Then, Here and There is honestly best summed up by the word "intense". There are times where watching it is like having an elephant slowly stepping down on your back--oppressive and irresistable. In a good way, of course. All I can really say about it is, watch it and see. It's an experience. Kimi Ga is a similar experience, but less so. It's more based on interpersonal and emotional intensity. Damn good and damn intense, but not on the same level as NTHT. Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 20, 2004, 01:36:37 pm Just finished episode 4 of Monster. The big shocker that they've been leading up to for four eps wasn't shocking, but thankfully, there are still many questions to be answered. I'm enjoying the hell out of the series.
I just wish ANBU or Anime-One had subbed it. Anime-Keep is good but not great. Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: BFG on July 20, 2004, 04:39:16 pm Ok u got me.... Going to get my torrent now :D
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: KGB on July 21, 2004, 01:16:12 am loth can we check it's being seeded ?
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 21, 2004, 01:52:18 am Azureus shows how many seeds there are in a torrent. I don't know whether straight BT does. Those should all be seeded currently, they were active when I linked them.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Brain on July 21, 2004, 02:14:22 am fo those of you that haven't seen alot of other anime, i'd also like to interject jin-roh into the mix as something that you may want to try and find... that is more of a movie as opposed to a series and is commercially available, meaning that you should not try and find a site and go download it.... like that will stop any of you
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 21, 2004, 02:43:38 am Brain's right, Jin-Roh is worth renting. The full title is Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. Very dark movie. Good stuff, you'll probably need to watch it twice to catch all the plot twists. : D
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: BFG on July 21, 2004, 07:40:28 pm Quote ? Azureus shows how many seeds there are in a torrent. I don't know whether straight BT does. Those should all be seeded currently, they were active when I linked them. Azureus has issues with my comp... i get a kernal panic type frozen screen with shocking message crash after a few minutes after trying to upgrade azureus via its auto updater... ps. BT dosnt tell u anything funky like the number of seeds etc - but the tracker will Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: seth on July 21, 2004, 11:13:31 pm i saw the first episode of Monster yesterday. It has a pretty slow start, and the subtitle makes it annoying to watch. But still, i did download the other 2 episodes coz i'm curious.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: "Sixhits" on July 21, 2004, 11:23:50 pm How do I get the AVI to work with quicktime?
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: seth on July 22, 2004, 12:05:51 am for AVI files, better use VLC:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: BFG on July 22, 2004, 12:38:14 am I wish apple would sort the whole Quicktime & .avi thing... tis a bugger and no mistake ;)
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 22, 2004, 10:14:16 am It's possible to watch AVI files in Quicktime, but it requires downloading and installing various codecs, especially Divx and its kissing cousins. I use VLC, which has a mess of codecs built-in and can play about 90% of everything.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: "Sixhits" on July 22, 2004, 08:34:46 pm Thanks all.
I may soon have an announcement on Monster. Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on August 02, 2004, 02:13:14 am So, has anyone watched any of these series and wants to comment on them? I'm not making these recommendations for my health, ya know. : D I like hearing what people think of the things I recommend.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: bronto on August 02, 2004, 02:59:37 am loth i wub you, but i can't stand your cartoons. it's either me, or the cartoons.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on August 02, 2004, 10:33:47 am The cartoons. When you leave, take your damn cat with you.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: bronto on August 02, 2004, 09:18:33 pm lolol. coincidense, i just combed my cat.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: MacMan on August 03, 2004, 11:49:42 pm Hey, ii got the 17 parts of N&T,H&T.
wow I'm sorry i cant think of any way to describe it as the word you used: "Intense" but I'd like to add something INTENSE!!! I especially like the Nabuca character. imho, this struggle with uhm.. himself. was well depicted (sry for teh crappy english, spent most evening speaking german) Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on August 05, 2004, 04:28:59 am Glad you liked it. : )
Here's another recommendation I've been watching lately -- Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (http://66.90.75.92/suprnova//torrents/2084/SAC(1).torrent). If you like ? Cyberpunk ? Police action/drama ? Kicking ass and taking names ? Complex and fast-paced storylines You'll probably like GitS:SAC. It's set after the Ghost in the Shell movie, for those of you who've seen it. For those of you who haven't, the movie is not required to follow the series. It helps in following some of the terms they use, but it's not essential. Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: spike on August 06, 2004, 03:18:13 pm how can i play an avi on my comp? vlc and quicktime arent doing it for me.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on August 06, 2004, 11:18:59 pm VLC isn't doing it? That's strange. Is the file you're trying to play one of the ones I linked in this thread, or is it something else?
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: spike on August 07, 2004, 02:16:09 am linked, but ill try again and see if theres a new version of vlc i should use.
Title: Re:Intense Shit Post by: Mr. Lothario on August 07, 2004, 01:40:21 pm Hrm. I've downloaded all the ones I've linked here, and played every one with VLC. How exactly is it failing to play? Is it giving you an error message, no video, no sound, what?
