Title: A Community? Please! Post by: KoS.Rebel on July 08, 2004, 05:13:01 am On the site www.dictionary.com, the definition of "Community" is Sharing, participation, and fellowship. Its amazing that we call our selves a community when those three principles are missing from this forum completely. I myself along with Hyb have realized that GR is pointless, its use is purely for shit talking. I dunno if anyone else here has realized it but we sure have. Its basically to form rivalries and just talk up a big game. Same with these forums. People are abusing power, bashing others, and there is purely no fellowship at all. Sure there are people that are friends but hell! There are so few "mac gamers" that everyone should know and get along with everyone. I mean in the PC world there are enough people to hate but HELL right now in the B and G there are 102 people. Sure there are those guys that are flamers and dont act their age but the clanners should. I mean hell! If you wanna settle something, why do people post here!? I know that I myself have fallen to the powers of posting crap talk on the forums and I hate to see it after i post it and go "damn, why did i do that?" Basically, this post is here to say that if we want things to start going back to the bright side, we need to pull together. No longer should we war against eachother with words, but aim our hatred against the peeeeceee enemies. Why must we hate eachother when all it does it break the few of us apart? If all this continues i will leave this community. Id like to see things back the way they were during the RS days when everyone know everyone and everyone hated Rapid together. Sure people didnt like eachother but they didnt come on here and flame against everyone to prove some god forsaken point that most of us dont care to read about. All im saying is, if we bring it together, we will not fall.

I see what you are talking about. It's in the best interest of this community to not have so many bad relationships. Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: cO.Kuza on July 08, 2004, 07:54:45 am hah this is so emo
Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: c| Spetsnaz. on July 08, 2004, 08:02:29 am I think Rodney King said it best, "Why can we all just get along?".
Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: Abe 2.0 on July 08, 2004, 09:02:14 am So you wan't this to be a hippie community if i'm hearing you right...
Shit talking and being part of a community arent mutually exclusive. Hell, if we all got along and agreed all the time it would be kindof boring. Also, there is a difference btw talking shit like "fag", "noob", "i pwned u" (which, unfortunately happens to be dominant on GR) and more sophisticated forms of mockery and assing. Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: spike on July 08, 2004, 05:27:12 pm I agree with kuza. go listen to some dashboard, noob ;)
I don't see much of a problem here. You want problems? You want a fucked up community? Go visit the planetgameranger forums where every post is met with replys like: stfu fag. or: go fuck yourself, fuck knuckles (heres my proof: http://www.planetgameranger.com/forum/index.php?s=a0e4132b7d04adb55646af7b435ebe12&showtopic=482&st=0 and: http://www.planetgameranger.com/forum/index.php?s=a0e4132b7d04adb55646af7b435ebe12&showtopic=481&st=0 ) there are whole threads devoted to flaming. This community may have its problems, but when you put 100 teenagers in a room and arm them with the anonymity that the internet brings, what do you expect will happen? Title: Re:A Community? Please! It's funny, I never saw that thread about banning those two, and then made my own. I think the difference between us and PGR is that they take threads like that seriously, whereas the guys on my poll were in competition to be the guys that were voted most-wanted to be banned. Interesting. Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: spike on July 08, 2004, 06:28:52 pm Also, the guys on your poll werent as near as bad as excidium and uriel are. Thats the point. The worst of *DAMN are no where near as bad as the worst of pgr.
Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: crypt on July 08, 2004, 09:11:49 pm Snipes poll was mostly a joke I believe.
Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 08, 2004, 10:37:53 pm Rebel that is BS. Seriously, anyone could paint a bad face on anyone. You like your PC so much go enjoy it and don't post here. The only reason there are problems is because of people who like to stir things up. I don't see the same BS you do. I see a tighter community that anywhere else I've ever seen. We shouldn't complain about the bad when things are so good and looking even brighter in the future.
Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: spike on July 09, 2004, 06:04:28 am god myst. why are you so godamn sexy?! :o
Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: cO.Kuza on July 09, 2004, 07:22:13 am i think the main reason why there is so much tension is becuase of those fucking GR account #'s. the old RS players are say "Fucking GHR n00bs" we mean you RS people no harm we come to play games not to fight over the internet. the ghost recon players retaliate because its just so damn rediculous to call people out on what game they play.....

We could fix that, *pulls out a knife* Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: Mr.Mellow on July 09, 2004, 07:26:10 pm A simple way to fix the problems in the community: Harsh retribution against people who bitch or complain about a cb. And I mean harsh. Just flame the SHIT outta them. I know that's against everything I stand for, but it would set people straight. And, if the Admins find out that a clan was a cheating or there was a real reason for that person to be bitching, then we flame the hell outta the other guys and make them not want to ever come back.
:-[ ::) Just an idea. People whine because they think people will listen to them and feel sorry for them. Hell no. I want them to feel so alienated after they whine that they'll never do it again, even if they're being stabbed by monkeys and having orange juice poured into their wounds. If we don't put up with all this garbage, it'll stop eventually. Now, I'm not saying that we should stop people from filing a valid complaint if there was some seriously messed up stuff going on in the cb. That's bad. But I also don't want people being so nitpicky during CB's that they're constantly looking for a way to force the other to team forfeit, instead of enjoying the fun of it. Title: Re:A Community? Please! Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 10, 2004, 06:34:51 pm hmmmm moot eh?....
<flips through dictionary pages of my mind> Ahhh. moot ?? ?P???Pronunciation Key??(mt) n. Law. A hypothetical case argued by law students as an exercise. An ancient English meeting, especially a representative meeting of the freemen of a shire. tr.v. moot?ed, moot?ing, moots To bring up as a subject for discussion or debate. To discuss or debate. See Synonyms at broach1. Law. To plead or argue (a case) in a moot court. adj. Subject to debate; arguable: a moot question. Law. Without legal significance, through having been previously decided or settled. Of no practical importance; irrelevant. [Middle English, meeting, from Old English mt, gemt.] mootness n. Usage Note: The adjective moot is originally a legal term going back to the mid-16th century. It derives from the noun moot, in its sense of a hypothetical case argued as an exercise by law students. Consequently, a moot question is one that is arguable or open to debate. But in the mid-19th century people also began to look at the hypothetical side of moot as its essential meaning, and they started to use the word to mean ?of no significance or relevance.? Thus, a moot point, however debatable, is one that has no practical value. A number of critics have objected to this use, but 59 percent of the Usage Panel accepts it in the sentence The nominee himself chastised the White House for failing to do more to support him, but his concerns became moot when a number of Republicans announced that they, too, would oppose the nomination. When using moot one should be sure that the context makes clear which sense is meant.
