20" Alu, 23" Alu and !!!! 30" Alu !!!! www.apple.com/displays/ (http://www.apple.com/displays/) to bad I can't afford one :( , the price for the 20" is still a bit high... not to mention the 30". There is no graphics card in the monitor! But for the 30in you need a special one in a G5 Powermac to us it (NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL). It has dual link DVI because the 30in needs 2 DVI instead of the usual 1. But it has another Dual link so you can use 2 30in screens at the same time (thats 8 million pixels). They're priced so high because they aren't for everyday users.

Buy a big ass plasma TV instead, to hang on the ceiling above your bed. Gaming on such a big screen is not recommendable, by the time you find your enemy, he allrdy killed you... For ppl who use 3D progs, graphic design progs and video editing tools it is really handy. With all the toolbars those progs have, your screen can become very crowded... I need one :( altough my second screen allrdy does a part of the deal. Only in my 3D app i'm still short of space. Mb I'll save up for the 23", but then again, I could by an iBook or save a bit more for a pb...

Post by: BFG on June 29, 2004, 06:02:42 pm Sent is right, your only really ever going to need to use that sort of space if your working with big 3D apps, using somthing like FCP for Film editing or equivelent massive applications which have a huge array of pallets, windows and such like - not to mention the need of space to actually view what your doing!!
I really don't think this is a gaming monitor... Much better bet is the 23inch with one of the smexy graphics cards... :D almost forgot to drool over the release of Maya Unlimited :D Now there is a programme where you wouldn't say no to a 30inch screen! ;D Title: Re:Apple's stunning new Displays!!! It will convert analog to digital as well as digital to analog. Works very well with Apple iMovie. I think I paid about $250 for it at the Apple Store. It isn't that bad. the only problem is that you'd have to have a complete room dedicated for this arrangement. I had to move my G4 in the middle of the room, put mouse and keyboard on a seperate table and move the speakers of my hifi set to get the best experience. I've been located about 3 meters from the wall, and the diameter of the screen was about 4, 4.5 meters. Even programming in BBEdit wasn't bad. I could upload some video clips of this if you're interested.
