>>> A major security hole discovered in Microsoft's Internet Explorer last week has become a golden marketing opportunity for alternative browsers such as Mozilla and Opera unaffected by the flaw. To avoid falling prey to a concerted attack aiming to steal logon information and passwords, some security experts advised Web surfers to turn off some Internet Explorer (IE) features or switch browsers as the best immediate fix. Unknown attackers who had taken control of several Web servers used the flaw last week to install a remote access program, dubbed JS.Scob.Trojan, onto the PCs of visitors to those sites. "I hope that Microsoft will come up with a patch soon," said Johannes Ullrich, chief technology officer for the Internet Storm Center, a site that monitors network threats. "Until they do, you basically have two choices: Disable JavaScript in Internet Explorer or install another browser." <<< Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BFG on June 29, 2004, 01:14:09 am i refuse to use it for browsing... Hell i only use it when i have to internally for testing webpages..
Safari rocks (and is going to get hellish better with 10.4) hell and there are so many others now like firefox :) Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: crypt on June 29, 2004, 01:38:13 am I rarely ever use IE too. Infact, it's not even in my dock anymore.
Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_Mysterio on June 29, 2004, 02:31:14 am Crypt you use IE because it has such high quality history editing. I speak not from experience..... <coughs>
Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on June 29, 2004, 02:31:49 am I just wish that Apple would make a version of Safari for Windows. I have to sit on my shitty PC all day with Microshit IE on it with Microshit Windows. At least my homepage is set to Apple.com!

Hey, Apple makes AppleWorks for Windows, as well as Quicktime and the iPods. So I don't think it would be too far-fetched for them to make Safari for Windows. Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_Mysterio on June 29, 2004, 02:46:42 am The day safari goes Windows is the day hell freezes over for good. Asking for safari is like asking for the finder application to be ported....that of course is a bit crazy. Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on June 29, 2004, 09:00:50 pm So which is better, Mozilla or Firefox?
Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: bronto on June 29, 2004, 09:04:16 pm i dunno, i use firefox because i don't need the email thing bundled in with the browser (mozilla).
Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_Mysterio on June 30, 2004, 12:32:37 am The fewer the feature the better? ......on windows
Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on June 30, 2004, 01:49:04 am The fewer the feature the better? ......on windows If that's the case, then I better trash Windows and find a good copy of DOS to install. Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_Mysterio on June 30, 2004, 04:04:57 am You're starting to get it GS.
Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_Lee.Harvey on June 30, 2004, 09:20:02 am WHell.. I still use Netscape for most of my browsing www.netscape.com
Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BFG on June 30, 2004, 12:33:12 pm Quote If that's the case, then I better trash Windows and find a good copy of DOS to install. Best idea a Windows user can ever have ;) ps... id eer on the side of firefox. but i still don't think it matches up to safari! Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: BTs_Mysterio on June 30, 2004, 07:31:11 pm Firefox is the best option. Just for the record. But as BFG said it isn't much of one.
Title: Re:IE Explorer = DOOM Post by: bronto on June 30, 2004, 09:21:51 pm the reason i don't want the email app bundled in is because A) i never really use email, B) i already have a seperate email app.
and yeah, firefox still sucks. why don't people who make PC apps try to put a sexy interface or something on it. it's just ugly. and the download manager doesn't let you continue downloads after you close firefox...whats the point in having a pause button. People don't know design nice apps because a app can only look as good as the OS. |
