Title: Airports.... Post by: spike on June 17, 2004, 04:04:59 pm Having just graduated the air is ripe with present oppurtunities, and I was thinking of asking for an airport card. But I was wondering, do I really need one? I dont have a base in my house, but the person across the street from me does. I'm going to Boston University next year, so I might get some use out of it there. Which sorta brings me to my other questions.
How good is it for gaming? What kind of speeds will I get when compared to a cable connection? And secondly, what are the ethics of wireless internet? The people across the street me have a wireless, and ungaurded basestation, meaning that if I had a card, I could use it anytime I wanted. Is that wrong? I am technically stealing bandwidth from them, and I guess they could end up paying more. But if I have the card, I can't but help receive the signal. So whats right? Title: Re:Airports.... Post by: TError on June 17, 2004, 05:29:47 pm I'm gaming through my airport, and the loss isnt that big, it's barely nothing. On the other hand, my base station is like 2 m. away from the computer, so i cant say how big it would be if the base station is placed like 10-20 m. away.
