"The White House put government agencies on notice this month that if President Bush is re-elected, his budget for 2006 may include spending cuts for virtually all agencies in charge of domestic programs, including education, homeland security and others that the president backed in this campaign year.

Administration officials had dismissed the significance of the proposed cuts when they surfaced in February as part of an internal White House budget office computer printout. At the time, officials said the cuts were based on a formula and did not accurately reflect administration policy. But a May 19 White House budget memorandum obtained by the Washington Post said agencies should assume the spending levels in that printout when they prepare their fiscal 2006 budgets this summer."

lol....they aren't "CUTTING" anything.  That is the biggest lie in Washington these days....how the Democrats are cutting this, or the Republicans are cutting that.....

Washington D.C. (I mean the whole big dirty thing.....every political party involved) is in on this great big lie to the American People.  When they "CUT" something, they are merely reducing the amount of increase.  In other words, if they were going to increase MEDICARE 4.5% this year, but the Republicans decided they could use the money elsewhere and reduce the INCREASE down to 3.5%, then the Democrats turn around and say they are "CUTTING MEDICARE" by 1% and want to destroy the whole program!

WHAT A BUNCH OF BS!

Same way on the other side.....Democrat leaders call for a reduction of 3% in Defense spending and the Republicans call foul and say that the Democrats want to CUT DEFENSE!  How un-American!  When in reality they are just cutting the amount of increase by 3%.

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!

Okay, that boys and girls is how Washington Politics works.  And EVERYONE is guilty of it!

Do you have that situation we get over here when the goverment announces how they are increasing spending in education and health - but due to inflation the increase is so small that the effect is in real terms is less money for education and health

I think maybe the lesson we should take away from this is: Don't cut taxes and then start a massive, expensive war.

I say we just start taxing stupidity. The taxes from the women, rednecks, Windows users, east coasters, and NBA fans* would be more than enough to alleviate any budget concerns.
