Title: General Zinni's take on Iraq
Post by: Cossack on May 26, 2004, 03:44:32 am
Lets see what this badass marine says about the situation in the Middle East http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/05/21/60minutes/main618896.shtml (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/05/21/60minutes/main618896.shtml)Also look at his interview on Sixty Minutes a few days back.

Just to give you a little background information of General Zinni, he was a Marine General. He got his commision and became a second LT in Viet Nam. He gradually worked his way up through the ranks until he became CentComm commander. After that he was Bush's special envoy to the Middle East until he resigned when Bush invaded Iraq. An interesting person with an interesting opinion on the Pentagon.

?The first requirement is to freeze the situation, is to gain control of the security. To patrol the streets. To prevent the looting. To prevent the 'revenge' killings that might occur. To prevent bands or gangs or militias that might not have your best interests at heart from growing or developing.

Everything that they failed to do.
