Title: And I thought my G3 B&W was gonna explode! Post by: th.Sentinel on May 06, 2004, 03:56:20 pm With the last panther update I feared my G3 B&W 300Mhz Tower wouldn't be able to run it, but it works flawless.
Well most peecee guys won't be pleased to see this then: Longhorn Reqs (http://www.macminute.com/2004/05/05/longhorn) ;D Title: Re:And I thought my G3 B&W was gonna explode! Post by: BFG on May 06, 2004, 04:03:52 pm lol
2006 eh... Thats ok. Im sure we'll all be running our Quad G6's which will have a Gig on board ram, come prestalled with 8Gigs of DDR Ram, have 512MB Graphics cards in 16x slot, and be playing with each other accross our Terrabyte connections ;) news flash though, apparently there are great new security features in Long horn - You now can't press cancel to log in if you don't have a password ;) Title: Re:And I thought my G3 B&W was gonna explode! Post by: th.Sentinel on May 06, 2004, 04:14:10 pm Yeah but the funny part is they are gonna release an alpha preview next week, I wonder who of the guys that are getting the preview, will be able to run it 8)
Title: Re:And I thought my G3 B&W was gonna explode! Post by: BFG on May 06, 2004, 04:35:44 pm Apparently if you don't have those specs, you can still run the system but you get an interface that looks basically like Win98 ... lovely what an inprovment eh ;)
Title: Re:And I thought my G3 B&W was gonna explode! Post by: [[EUR]] HoloGram on May 06, 2004, 05:44:57 pm These specs aren bulshit - sorry guys, but they dont come from officials, and seem to be more a joke to me then a realistic system requirement
In the Intel/ AMD Prozessor world the prozessor speed didnt change for a year now. 3Ghz are the max for a year now. And they wont be able to change this in the near future. The New selling argument is 64Bit and not the clock speed. The whole thing is a joke. I would say that todays machines would run Longhorm without problems. |
