Title: Ghost Recon 2 info Post by: l ! l Ross on April 29, 2004, 05:39:34 pm I read an article on Ghost Recon 2 today in an xbox magazine. It had screenshots and info so here is some of what will be coming in Ghost Recon 2:
Its no longer a first person game. Its now a 3rd person game. Update: Will be an optional veiw: http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=205105043&m=555102563 (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=205105043&m=555102563) Completely new graphics and physics engine. From the screenshots I seen it doesn't looked that much different but maybe its early work for now. You now have the option to call in airstrikes from fighters and bombers and close air support from attack helicopters. No word on how this might be incorporated into multiplayer. You also have tank and vehicle support (can't drive them) but they can be used for cover and you can jump on and take a free ride. Thats the main points. I read this at college and was unable to get a scan of the 4 page article. Title: Re:Ghost Recon 2 info Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on April 29, 2004, 05:41:35 pm 3rd Person Game? Are they nuts?

This is for all of you that are convinced Ghost Recon 2 will utilize a traditional 3rd-person camera view... Let me fill you in on what the real story is... RSE is developing an optional camera view that may appear similar to a 3rd-person view. This exciting new view is designed to allow the player to see both their character and weapon while maintaining the highest feeling of realism. There are many reasons for this approach and view that have not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more information pertaining to the all-new, completely optional camera view being implemented in Ghost Recon 2. As previously stated, use of the new camera angle is completely optional. RSE is working to add to the gameplay experience and player options, and Ghost Recon purists will still be able to play the game the way they choose. The traditional first-person view will be available and is still in the game. RSE is well-aware of the potential for non-first-person cameras to unbalance multiplayer (i.e. be able to see around corners without exposing themselves). RSE takes on-line gaming very seriously and wants to assure you all that the view will not be allowed to detract from the multiplayer experience. More details to follow. One mind blowing fantastic snippet: Quote incorporates the adoption of the Havok 2 physics code (the same that is being used for the groundbreaking Half-life 2) Quote ... for those of you that have seen the Tech demo showing of the capabilities of the physics engine in HL2 u'll know why im going doo lally ;) vertex and pixel shaders.... looks like most of us will be going to go buy a new graphics card ;) Hell imagine GhR without glitching ;) The most worrying thing about the news so far must be about how they are trying to open GhR2 to a 'far wider community" making it more accessible to play (ie they are going to turn it more in to QIII than a tatical fps? ) |
