*DAMN R6 Forum

Okay, so, my family is a hardcore mac family. At last count we've got: a G4 433mhz tower, a 1ghz ibook, an old apple ibook, a 833mhz imac, an old imac DV, and old power pc performa 6300, an LCII and one of the apple boxes...i think thats all. 8 macs. We use the new ibook, the g4 tower and both the imacs...sort of. But the rest of the macs are sitting in our basement, probably rotting. I checked prices for the imac dv on ebay, and its under 200 for a fully loaded mint condition with panthar. So how the hell do I get rid of those computers, short of taking them out into the dumpster?

Sell them to a museum and buy a G5.

Just keep them and use em as room decoration.

Give me the specs on this machine (RAM, HD, Color, Condition, etc) and how much you want for it.

12.75 gigs of actual space. I believe 9.3 gigs are left.
128 SDRAM
w/ a DVD player and best of all, a AtiRage126k graphics card. Comes complete with Snood, Rainbow Six Demo, Gameranger, iTunes(with various songs) Rogue Spear, etc etc. I think appleworks unfortunatly got deleted somehow.
The keyboard is not in such good shape. Well, its missing the space key. The mouse is the standard iMac mouse, and works fine.
As to its condition, I would say that it is in fairly good shape. It was originally my brothers computer at boarding school. He graduated, and its been kicking around my house ever since.
I could try and load panthar onto it(tho it would be slightly illegal)

As to the price, I don't suppose I can ask that much, so..$150 is an optimistic price i suppose. So around there...

I have the same exact one except mine has 768mb RAM, Jaguar, more games, and new accesories...mb Spike upgrade the ram to at least 512mb, and sell it to GS for like 300 w/ shipping and handing first class :)

I'd hardly consider that old of a machine to be worth 300, but what's 300 to GhostSniper anyway?

I assume he just wants it so he can chat with his GR friends while he's at work, maybe.

Actually, you are quite right there.  I have been looking for an old iMac to sit in my office at work so I can run GameRanger....not to play games, but just to talk to everybody on.

Give the old macs away to someone who just uses a computer for word processing.

Well, the only thing that bothers me about that one you have is that it is not free of cosmetic defects (I practically treat my Macs like idols....polishing them and loving over them like children :) ).  That keyboard doesn't sound too spiffy.  I can get a similar system off of eBay in perfect cosmetic shape for about the same price.

I'll pay S&H to take it off your hands, plus maybe $50 or so. Think about it.. I'l have to buy a new keyboard, more ram, system CD's are missing (though I have a iMac exactly like that, so I've got copies), and it's OS9 so I can't really play anything on it.

Ghost, I'll trade you this iMac, some cash or other things for your current G5 once you upgrade. with this one, you can run GhR at work, and AA as well.

Runs like a dream, like new. No defects other than the fact that my original mouse broke so I couldn't include one of those.

Well, then I seriously hope you replaced it with another Apple One-Button mouse.  Cause if it don't have an Apple Logo on it, it doesn't go on my desk.

No, what I'm saying is, it's not an Apple mouse, I might have another lying around the house from older G4's or if you wanted to get a replacement.

I love Mac, but after having 5 buttons and a scroll wheel on your mouse its just hard to go back to one button.... now I was thinking of what I could do with one of those new 5 button/scroll wheel/side scroll on the wheel mice with a decent game pad for the other hand....

Have loved macs since I started selling the Lisa before the Mac arrived in 1984.... but some mice are better than others for power users.

but does it have to be a Microshit? mouse? Logitech mice pwn them.

i guess they will end up getting donated...
