Title: PC or Mac Post by: mac user on April 14, 2004, 12:30:40 am Ok, I have been waiting now for some time for the new mac's to come out and Im still waiting. I wanted to know what some of you thought of the oportunity that has been presented to me.
Tomorrow I can buy a Laptop Sony Vaio 3.06 Ghz P4 533mhz bus Nvida 5200 vcard that goes for $2699.00 for only $800.00 brand new out of the box untouched! So my question is, would you wait for the new macs coming out to possibly top out over 3000.00 or would you go for the PC for cheap ass money? Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: alaric on April 14, 2004, 12:42:17 am 1. Are you sure you're willing to recieve stolen property?
2. If yes, then fence it through ebay like civic suggests and collect a tidy profit. Be sure to destroy any evidence that you owned it after the sale. I love it how a future cop tells us how to commit an illegal act ;D Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: crypt on April 14, 2004, 03:52:28 am Hell, I don't like PC's but jesus that's a helluva deal.
My conscience my intervene my doing of what Civic said, but it certainly isn't a bad idea. hehe Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: mac user on April 14, 2004, 06:11:30 am I was assured it wasnt stolen property and they come with warrenties. Im also picking up a 42 inch sony plasma hdtv. Retail 7000 and getting it for 2000. All in boxes and unused. Again, there not stolen they come from reliable sources.
Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: alaric on April 14, 2004, 06:42:30 am Sorry, but that just doesn't make sense. NOBODY could afford to sell something at that price. The fact that this isn't just an isolated deal and that there's a volume of merchendise available at these super-discounted profits, all but convinces me that it's stolen property.
What excuse were they giving for the heavy discounts? Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: Ace on April 14, 2004, 06:43:48 am A) The laptop is stolen.
B) The plasma TV is stolen. C) You are an idiot. D) If by some miracle of God it isn't stolen, this is what to do. Call Sony and verify that the serial number has not been reported stolen. If it checks out clean, buy it for $800 and put it on eBay. If it retails for $2700, I'm guessing you might be able to get $2000 if it is actually brand new. Take your $1200, put it in your pocket and wait until Apple releases new iBooks (or Powerbooks if you want to throw in some of your own change). Buy a lovely Mac and laugh your way to the bank. Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: |MP|Buccaneer on April 14, 2004, 07:24:13 am Yeah, I had a couple guys offer to sell me a plasma screen in the parking lot of Home Depot a couple weeks back. Had it in the back of their truck, a couple of them. Said they were supposed to install them, but the people were sending them back. He said some BS about not being allowed to return them, and giving me a deal.
And if you believe that they weren't stolen, or going to be reported that way, I have some nice, "beach front" property for sale. Bucc, as I explained to you, I CANT return them once I have ordered them.... ;D Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on April 14, 2004, 10:35:13 am This shit isn't stolen nor is it what he says it is. This is a nationwide scam involving all forms of electronics...they show you some magazine with their "goods" in it that states a "retail price." The odds are that you are walking into a trap and buying no name bullshit (and overpaying for it) that will break down shortly after you purchase it. I bet you were told you would get a computer "similar" to a Vaio, and other stories like that.
These people aren't stupid...if the items were really worth what they claim them to be, they would eBay them, not try to sell it to some idiot who thinks he is getting a deal. Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: a_Dingo on April 14, 2004, 12:35:23 pm A laptop PC that is a bit too slow for gaming, great if you want to cart a winblows system around with you.
As said, if the deal looks too good to be true it probably is.... And if you are into buying cheap deals... I have a bridge in Brooklin that I am currently holding the title of in Australia, need to sell it fast as I have a margin call on some cheap stocks I purchased. Any offer welcome. Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: mac user on April 14, 2004, 04:35:31 pm Well, its my UPS guy who called me. His brother overstocked and wants to get rid of these items ASAP. He gave me all the model numbers and I checked. Now Im just waiting for his call. Its probably to good to be true, but if it isnt...
Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: alaric on April 14, 2004, 06:31:03 pm Ok, so the UPS guy is the one doing the stealing. And nothing reports stolen yet because he's just holding the stuff, it's just late right now, not reported stolen yet.
What I think he's doing is taking orders for stuff and then stealing items to fill the orders. It's been done before. Wow, when you join the police force, they need to just move you right up to Detective! lol Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: cookie on April 14, 2004, 11:32:45 pm ignore morality! buy the stolen shit or whatever, then pawn it off to some suckers.
;D but you didn't hear it from me Title: Re:PC or Mac Post by: BFG on April 16, 2004, 12:49:59 am Quote Not logged in to Protect my identity You havn't got a clue have you.... Unless you just posted that from a internet cafe or equivelent your home ip has been logged, you can be traced through your ip and located if necessery... ps. mac or pc... im guessing when u say pc you mean a windows box... so you chose a nice system which is stable and easy to use, or you chose a unstable system which has more holy and security floors in it than a sieve and looks like a pile of junk... ooh tough call.
