Title: Re:Just a nice article Post by: Ace on March 31, 2004, 08:46:26 pm A rather lame article for the most part. He pulls the 8% figure out of his ass with no explanation. Too bad most college newspapers suck.

Too bad most college newspapers suck. Gee Ace, do you ALWAYS have to be an ASS? Not always, just when I read an article in a college newspaper that I could have outdone in middle school. Title: Re:Just a nice article Post by: Mr. Lothario on April 01, 2004, 12:49:04 am I've read the same Macworld articles that the author got that figure from. Anyway, that's as badly unsupported a 'rah rah go Apple' article as most (if not all) of the 'Apple is doomed within the next 3/6/12/18/24/* months' articles I've read. It's just ignoring mitigating factors in the other direction.
At the least, it would have been nice if the author had correctly identified the "percentage of new computers sold each month" as market share and "the number of computers that are in use" as installed base. Title: Re:Just a nice article Post by: Supernatural Pie on April 01, 2004, 05:05:14 am I'm going to go ahead and agree with Ace on this one.
I mean... Where the fuck did he get his percentages from? A random number generator? I mean come on, the guy's basically saying that a lot of percentages are incorrect. What makes his right? Very confused about this. Also, I felt it was a weak article overall. I scrolled down, expecting him to have just finished his introduction, and then preparing to move into what his paper was actually about. But it ended there. ??? |
