Accually there's a slight problem with the demo...From Ryan Gorden (the got of mac unreal engine porting)

Quote
Obviously, there are bugs. Stress-testing on a wide distribution of hardware is part of the reason a demo materializes before the retail box. As some of you have realized, my ut2003 2225.1 fix for Radeons in Panther isn't in the ut2004 demo...the fix never got put into source revision, and was totally overlooked. This is my stupid fault, we'll correct it. Other bugs in the Mac client can be reported to James Robrahn at MacSoft: ut@macsoftgames.com, or submitted to my bugtracker at https://bugzilla.icculus.org/ ... James will probably feed them into bugzilla anyhow, so this is just a question of how you are more comfortable reporting bugs

So in other words, he forgot to add all the fixe sthat brought 2k3 from 30 FPS to over 150 on my G5. Demo be doomed.

Totally unplayable for me...got like 2-4 fps. But ohMYGoD, the game is totally superb...The map is huge, and thats just the demo map. Grafix are awesome, the vehicles....mmmm.

*needs a G5 now*

oh yes the vehicals.... they are so much better inplemented that halo :( and they are awsome!! Nicely balenced to not be overwhelming due to the threats of those pesky homing missiles and the anti vehical rocket launcher... plus the nice need for teamwork with the larger tank and truck... not to mention the fact it looks freaking awsome! :D

This is the first game since Max Payne and Deus Ex I can't say a bad thing about. Well atleast the gameplay itself. Ofcorse that little mistake with the ATI/panther optimizations really did screw up the performance. This games vehicles are perfectly integrated. The game types are so advanced. This is gotta be the best MP game sincce well, Unreal Tournament orignal. They really corrected what they fucked up in UT2k3.

I must say, this game brings senseless killing to a whole new level...

OMG I wish we can get a ladder for this game, once it gets out. An onslaught ladder. It would be sooo cool, this game is better then any game out for the moment (in my opinion). And the only bug I noticed in the demo for now is the fact I can't get some of the smaller vehicles to work. But those aircrafts and tanks are awsome.

Anyone up for some UT2k4 onslaught tonight? I'm gonna host some, if we don't have a cb.  ;D

More and more has this G4 iMac 700 come back to bite me in the ass.
Sure, it runs all of the older games fine, but it's under the requirements for EVERY new game that's been coming out. I havn't played a game on high settings since rogue spear. Even after tweaking the shit out of every game (Halo, Ghost Recon, Raven Shield, Americas Army, UT2k3, UT2k4), I manage to run them, but it's simply not possible to match my opponents, even if I can match them in reaction time, aiming, knowledge of the maps, and overall skill. I'm sure many of you have heard me complain about my framerates, and I'm really sorry, because I know I'm probably getting annoying as hell, and I'll try to stop. It's just so frustrating knowing that I have what was once a really nice computer that could run "anything" and now can run "nothing".

I'm sure UT2k4 is a great game, and until I get my hands on a G5, I hope you all have fun playing it.
 :(

Yes, I'm in exactly the same boat.  I was planning on getting a G5 around this time (...though I was hoping Apple would be speedbumping around now...), but now I'm not sure if I can really afford it with college next year...gah...

Yeah, so I won't be playing UT2k4 on this machine.  At least it can display screenshots like a champ!  -_-
