i really doubt GameRanger will ever be available for PC and i even want it to stay exlusively for Mac. Title: Re:Will there be a PC gameranger Post by: Toxic::Joka on February 09, 2004, 08:40:59 am I remember reading something about a crossplatform (for PC and Mac) GR-like application called....something box....flamebox...firebox.... ??? About a year ago, and it wasn't just rumors from somebody, there was a actual site dedicated to the progress of this app (it was under construction back then)
Now i have no idea whats going on with the development of it, if its done if its dropped...who knows. Havent seen or heard anything about it for ages. If anyone knows something about this i'd love to hear it too. Title: Re:Will there be a PC gameranger Post by: crypt on February 10, 2004, 02:11:25 am I'd support the development of a PC GameRanger as long as it has some kind of anti-cheat system. I mean think, then we might be able to play RvS in a couple of PC servers finally.
Title: Re:Will there be a PC gameranger Post by: Scrach on February 10, 2004, 05:00:49 am I would think it would be a great Idea the only problem I could see is that because there are so many PC gamers it will become less of a comunity and more of a orginized list of servers and a chat room for people to spam. This is my only problem. Gameranger should stay how it is and there should be another app for servers and only servers.

But "shit" happends :) Title: Re:Will there be a PC gameranger Post by: z][t-Rampage on February 12, 2004, 01:22:12 am he he let it be a set rule that pc users MUST get premium! oh and make premium more expensive for them too ofc(so we only get the serious hardcore gamers) hehe
hmm that aint that bad of an idea ;D Rampage Title: Re:Will there be a PC gameranger Post by: Stripes on February 14, 2004, 02:11:55 pm lol ramp :) you got good friends with pcs?

I mean think, then we might be able to play RvS in a couple of PC servers finally. Since what keeps you from playing RvS on PC servers is that the Mac and PC run different versions of RvS, having PC's on GR would do you no good at all. The game companies have to make them compatible, it has nothing to do with GR. Title: Re:Will there be a PC gameranger Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on March 12, 2004, 09:37:11 pm I asked Evill in an e-mail several months ago if he would ever consider making GameRanger available on a PC for Premium Users only and then just so that we could chat on it, not game on it (I brought this up because at work I am stuck on a PC and would love to chat with people on GameRanger). He said that he could not forsee that ever happening anytime in the near future. So from the GameRanger creator's perspective, I don't think it will ever happen.
Title: Re:Will there be a PC gameranger Post by: 11.Dr.5150 on March 23, 2004, 04:18:24 pm There is no need for PC players anyways. GR would be flooded with more noobs then are already here.
Title: Re:Will there be a PC gameranger Post by: mainstream on May 11, 2004, 03:36:34 am PC GR players use the Ubi.com network to play their games. There are very many more players of all skill types playing. One can always find a game when playing the PC version.
Currently, I am writing an application for the Mac which can access this connection service, and allow Mac players to connect via the Ubi.com network. Anyone interested in helping me out should let me know. |
