In November, Microsoft and IBM announced that the future Xbox would utilize IBM processors. Few details had been available. IBM produces the PowerPC 970 for Apple's PowerMac G5 which were introduced at a 130nm process. Recently introduced Xserve G5s now utilize a 90nm process. Reducing the process size should allow future chips to reach higher speeds and potentially less heat production. that is one mother of a jump from 130 to (or even 90) down to 65nm... shit think of the clock speeds they could reach at 65!!! ;D Title: Re:65-nm G5 chips!? I don't think MS would actually consider using a top of the line 64-bit PPC processor for their xbox, it'd be one hell of a jump from their older one and it'd be one hell of an expensive machine, hardly competitive.
