Aspyr is supposedly putting out an update to GhR that will force full screen mode.  Evill is waiting for this change to put his updates in place as well.  That's the last I heard from the man himself.

What became of the anti cheat plug in?

We need to at least force full screen mode in Ghost Recon.

I'd guess that it will come out later this month.
Evill said the next gr update will contain the GHR anticheat plugin.

Anyhow he could have released it a long time ago by throwing an xml parser in to force fullscreen, but he said he didn't want to add the extra code.

Why would Aspyr care?  It seems that if someone wants to play in non-full screen, thay have that option to, if they know how to do it.  If Aspyr is coming out with an update, I would hope it contains more than just forcing full screen play.  I play in full screen, but I host dedicated servers in a reduced window, so that I can still use my computer if necessary without closing the room.  Is there an issue with full screen that I am not aware of?

I don't understand how not playing full screen might improve your chances. I play with small screen sometimes just to get a kick out of it or if I want to record some shite and then edit it in iMovie. Anyhow, I wasn't around last season and I don't know how to cheat at all. I would like to know the following:

What are the cheats?

What do they do?

How do they work?

How can I tell if someone is cheating?

If someone cheats, what do I do?

If someone in my clan was to cheat against my knowing, would it have effects on the clan even if I kicked the bastard that cheated?

well, the cheat that you can stop with having forced full screen is full screen night vision. Cause a cheater could play with not full screen and use teh cheat files during the cb, and when the time for a cheat test comes he could change back to the original files and never be caught.

Fullscreen night vision does just what the name says, removes the "goggle" mask, giving you a full screen night vision.

Well you cant really tell, but if you suspect that the opponent uses it you can ask for a cheat test. One way to tell could be if the opponent uses peripheral vision to scout ahead even though its a night map, cause that cant be done with the original mask. Kinda hard to spot that though  ;)

I must say i am a bit surprised that it is possible to change data files around in game without it crashing GhR.... Pity, cos that would be a great way to stop the noobs from trying to cheat.

GhR isn't constantly checking files. Before each game, it will load the necessary files into memory. Thus, if you switch them midgame, GhR has no idea of the switch.

There are some very simple aimbots on the pc side that require you to be in window mode (not full screen).  These use vb and openGL, so they could probably be ported over to the mac, but, like I said, they do need you to not be in full screen mode.  

Add that to what Ace said, and I think we can all see the problems with it not forcing full screen mode.

Noto, Aspyr cares because cheaters only hurt the game and game sales, amongst other things.  Besides, Evill didn't say that this was the only thing in the update, it could be fixing a few other bugs as well.
