Title: DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 18, 2003, 12:54:24 am WardenMac, Cobra6 & myself had a run at quite a few games of Raven Shield this weekend, and I managed to grab a few screenshots of a co-op mission. I was a bit soured on Raven Shield, but after this weekend I am rejuvenated. Especially with Ventrillo, what a difference. ;D Thanks for the fun guys (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/beer.gif)

We did ok on coop, cobra whooped our @ss in mp though. Alot of fun.
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Cobra6 on August 18, 2003, 06:16:22 am Co-op is sure un with people that know some tactics. I slid into the game with Mac and Whisper and I recognized the tactics, and fit right in (until I opened the door for Mac, and when I heard the Tango I rushed through the doorway just as Mac lit the Tango up. Only problem I caught 10 5.56 bullets right in the back. Doc said I died from lead poisening) ;D
And yes....the Avatar under my name is actually my armpatch in the game. Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 19, 2003, 12:51:52 am Already being dead myself in that game, I can tell you it was the funniest thing to watch. Had Cobra waited just 2 more seconds and all would have been fine, but there must have been ants in Cobras tent because he couldn't wait to get out of there. ;D
TOO MUCH FUN!!!! Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 19, 2003, 05:25:21 am Just a few more updates - if any of you are fortunate enough to play with Cobra6 - he OWNZ - Cheers Brother (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/beer.gif)

Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Raven2367 on August 19, 2003, 11:39:39 pm :D So your better than in UO then cobra??
(I shot at cobra 17 times in UO and then he got booted for cheating) ;) Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: {E}LuSiVe on August 20, 2003, 05:55:49 am im really good, i just dont have the internet connection to show for it =[
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 20, 2003, 07:41:40 am No Internet or No High Speed Internet, Mac plays on 56k dial up, pings about 200 or so when we play..
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Cobra6 on August 20, 2003, 07:46:02 am I get no respect. The damn tango shot me and left me for dead in the friggin urinal >:(
(http://members.cox.net/promodteam/cobrapp.jpg) Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 20, 2003, 08:03:11 am Cobra6 in more action shots, a bit more effective than the above urinal shot ;D

(and they advertise broadband like crazy :o) Anyways, I know how you feel, LOL Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: WardenMac on August 21, 2003, 01:14:05 am Actually its not that bad with 56k, I mean I can recall times when about 50 % of the time I was warpin or jumping, skippin, you 56kers know what Im talking about. With RVS, and on AOL, I doesnt happen that often. I am somewhat slower than whisper and Cobra but I hold my own, especially in coop. Its alot of fun, a really good game for Mp.
I know the game gets a bad rap, and most is well deserved, believe me cobra and whisper have heard me many times ranting about the problems connecting to their server, but once you do (after about 20 tries, literally) its great fun. The maps blow away most others out there today, and when the sdk comes, it should be great to mod. Already working on my first map, or should specify room. Have it built, added light, now just have to learn how to make more rooms, landscape, etc. Does not appear that difficult, too bad all the tutorials are written by seasoned modders, and like most tuts out there, are not very specific on each step you have to take. Its mostly trial and error. Whisper and I have vowed (yes WHISPER too) to learn to make maps. Should be interesting. Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Rigid Ice on August 21, 2003, 05:45:39 am Well, I could hook up to 48K - 52K (never had 56K, even though I thought I was payin' for it ;)) and never lag- but, it just so happens the maximum speed (which rarely occurs) is about 44K- even with just the small difference, I lag about 3 minutes behind my cable friend, LOL
...I mean I can recall times when about 50 % of the time I was warpin or jumping, skippin, you 56kers know what Im talking about. I know what u mean- So, I'm playing bunkers, and its just all out war- no rules. I see a guy run behind a bunker, so naturally, I throw a frag at him from the oppostite side of the bunker, completely safe. Then, I get a little suprise. I warp around the map- finally I stop warping around. Then, my own grenade lands right in front of me... BOOM ;D ;D Good times, good times... Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: {E}LuSiVe on August 21, 2003, 07:07:05 am how do u guys play? did u sign up with ubi?
my comp can barely handle some of it, things like wide open areas and smoke literally kill my machine. in cqb im pretty fine tho. damn vid card >:( Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 21, 2003, 01:56:09 pm We do go through UBI, Mac can't connect if I don't use UBI, I host, Cobra and I also use ventrilo voice comms, but those for sure kill Mac's bandwidth.
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: {E}LuSiVe on August 21, 2003, 10:19:23 pm when do u guys usually play? maybe i'll join u sometime.... if i can put up with the lag i'll get...
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Raven2367 on August 22, 2003, 12:11:07 am Are those realy SS signs on the terrorists armpatches. I#ve been trying to suss that one for ages
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: WardenMac on August 22, 2003, 02:31:53 am when do u guys usually play? maybe i'll join u sometime.... if i can put up with the lag i'll get... EJ, it depends really, we usually play during the week after say 7pm, Whisper travels on the weekends. Just look for the server $$DTD_Mod team or something like that, you will know it when you see it. Welcome anytime, goes for anyone on this forum. Cobra and Whisper obviously have cable, I connect 56k, due to I run sattelite connection and cant game on it. The lag is really not that bad, I am really surprised. We played one game with two to three other players, still not too bad, guess I was laggin about 1 sec behind everyone else, of course that time delay is deadly against a skilled player, especially cobra. I see him, immediately shoot, and he gets me, hehe, most of the time. Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 22, 2003, 04:57:43 am Unless he is napping in the unrinal ;)
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: {E}LuSiVe on August 22, 2003, 06:59:02 am alright man, thanks for the invite. i'll look u guys up next time im on.
now speaqking of raven shield...... anyone got tips on how to beat operation crimson hook? Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: WardenMac on August 23, 2003, 07:33:32 pm Dont die ;D. I dont even know which one that is man, lol.
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: {E}LuSiVe on August 24, 2003, 08:37:59 pm i never die in that one..... i have the part leading up to the hostage rescue down to a science! its the one at the meat packing plant.
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Suicide_Commando on August 25, 2003, 03:10:48 am its the one at the meat packing plant. That one was a bitch. Took me a ton of replays to complete. I think the hardest part was that really big open room with the catwalks and adjacent rooms with windows. Just gotta go silent and fast and hope that the tangos don't cap the hostages. Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: WardenMac on August 25, 2003, 05:13:51 am takes planning, there is one guy that will hit the alarm, you have to make sure you get him first. Took me alot of tries, then once it worked.
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 25, 2003, 02:32:23 pm Cobra6 caught in the act
(http://members.cox.net/whisper_/Airport_04.jpg) And the most common tactic that I used while playing yesterday (http://members.cox.net/whisper_/Open_Market06.jpg) Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Cobra6 on August 25, 2003, 04:38:49 pm In my defense...Whisper modified that SS, but I have found the real unaltered version right here.
(http://members.cox.net/promodteam/ss/therealpic.jpg) I agree, this is Whispers usual stance. (http://members.cox.net/promodteam/ss/whisper.jpg) the new patch added something no one anticipated....TORTURE! (http://members.cox.net/promodteam/ss/pleasesir.jpg) Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: *NADS Foxy on August 25, 2003, 05:01:39 pm Hahaha, those are some damn good pics. ;D
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: WardenMac on August 25, 2003, 11:58:01 pm We didnt fair to well yesterday, for some reason. Between those damn AOL popups and my 90 pound rott sticking her melon in my way, wonder I had any kills. Good fun though.
Oh and cobra, I fully understand, I have the same problem. They need to make those urinals deeper ;D Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Cobra6 on August 26, 2003, 12:07:28 am And not so cold ;D
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 26, 2003, 12:08:48 am That explains my tactical disadvantage, I kept tripping over something :o
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Rigid Ice on August 27, 2003, 05:29:37 am And not so cold ;D LOL, I know what u mean ;) Anyways, Raven Shield looks awsome- is it modable? I'm gonna get it, also maybe something besides a 28K even though I payin for 56K, LOL, crappy AOL Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Cobra6 on August 27, 2003, 06:51:23 am Whisper decided to call it quits and jumped onto the fence.
(http://members.cox.net/promodteam/ss/fence.jpg) Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Rigid Ice on August 27, 2003, 08:11:52 pm I think whisper needs better body armor, ;)
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on August 27, 2003, 09:21:13 pm I think whisper needs better body armor, ;) I won't argue with that, but I really don't think that they make 7.62X51mm resistant armor for the back of your head. Cobra drilled me himself on a co-op mission, it was a TK, granted I'm not sure how I managed to hedge myself in front of him. ;D Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: toymachine on August 28, 2003, 12:45:36 am Rigid, RvS is very moddable. Raven Sheild uses the UNreal Engine, which in other words, means 'REAL' Total COnversion Mods -you cant truly say Rogue Spear had TC mods, cuz you couldnt change the actual engine of the game, but for raven sheild uses the Unreal Engine, which means you can change the mostly the entire game. So im hoping when DTD starts to play with RvS, that when you zoom, you actually zoom through the Iron Sights rather than the reticule enlarging the screen. :)
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Raven2367 on August 28, 2003, 02:14:30 am yep like infiltration ;D
If anyone wanted they could probably make mods in which you can fly helicopters, drive tanks, cars anything you desire... ooohhh i love UWE Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Rigid Ice on August 28, 2003, 04:01:41 am Great! A highly moddable game- well, RS was pretty modable- you could change anything except motion and the 3D modeling for characters was kinda restricted. I think thats it...
Anyways, the idea's are flowing, LOL. Luckily, I'm pretty good with 3D Studio Max 5.0, so, making new 3D models for the game will probably work out very nicely ;D Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on September 02, 2003, 07:23:19 pm Whisper and I have vowed (yes WHISPER too) to learn to make maps. I have managed to get my UnrealEd working again, as it turns out, it will not work if you have Anti Aliasing turned on, so after shutting it off (so much for a $200 Video Card) I am able to once again ready to pursue my intereest in becoming the resident mapper, wish me luck. ???Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Raven2367 on September 02, 2003, 11:45:29 pm Wha! just got Ravenshield :-)
Hope to be able to come playing with you DTD guys soon. I'm gonna go and make myself a map :-) How long have you been mapping for Whisper? Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on September 02, 2003, 11:51:44 pm How long have you been mapping for Whisper? um.. about 15 minutes or so, I'm only learning so that I can be a valued member of the team, rather than just a cheerleader ;D seriously I'm only just learning, got a few asic tutorials to work throughm then off on my own, to see if I can actually get it. My first impressions are it's going to take some dedicated time and quite a few beers ;D Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: WardenMac on September 03, 2003, 12:17:18 am I like the beer part, time thing sucks though ;D
Was outta pocket for a few days, back now. Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on September 03, 2003, 12:53:59 am Bout time the boys in Dalls let you otta your cage, WB man, RvS is a waiting Cobra6 and I can't seem to run the same without ya
Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: WardenMac on September 03, 2003, 02:04:52 am All Im gonna say is that if we could change the tangos to lawyers, I would be happy right now ;D

Title: Re:DTD_Pro & Raven Shield Post by: Whisper_44 on September 16, 2003, 03:46:14 pm Kazan,
We run almost every night during the week, around 5 pm or so PST We Usually play Co-Op (unless Cobra feels like shooting me in the back ;)) We play v1.41 no PB - Open Market v2 is a staple and we are trying out the occasional map from the Platoon Map Pack #3 that was just released. |
