Even though Family Guy is a good hilarious show, The Simpsons really can't be topped.

Simpsons is a classic but Family Guy is the perverted version of it. I like Family Guy more cause it;s just funnier.

The Simpsons. Both are hilarious, but the Simpsons includes lots of allusions and more high humor, whereas Family Guy uses a greater amount of bathroom humor. Having equally creative writing teams, this makes the difference between a good show and a classic show.

I really love Family Guy, there's no better animated humoristic cartoon imo. The Simpsons is a classic and it's hilarious as well but it's not really as... like everyday humoristic. The Family Guy is just hilarious because of the way they built it up, it's definately in my list of classics. ;D

I would have gone with the classic Simpsons as a choice, if the newer shows didn't SUCK so bad, and homer's not funny anymore. plus, family guy is the funniest shizzle. im blazed.

I dunno about you guys, but I think Family Guy has some pretty sophisticated humor hidden underneath the perverted stuff. Family Guy is definately one of the funniest animated shows, but then again...I dunno. The Simpsons is classic, so I gotta go with the Simpsons.

family guy is funny, but the simpsons is the longest running prime time show for a reason. its no contest really. homer is more than just a role model for fathers worldwide, hes an american icon. in a poll in europe when asked who they thought the most important american in history was, they choose homer j. simpson over kennedy, roosevelt, clinton, and washington. probably just bein wankers, but you'll never see me on gr between 5-6 pm est. weekdays and 8pm on sundays. been watchin the simpsons since it was on the tracy ulman show and ill be watchin it way after family guy is only on the cartoon channel in the wee hours.

I watch the Simpsons somtimes and its a good show, but I like Family Guy alot better.

Oh man gotta go with Family Guy. So sick and twisted, it has STEWIE! Now everyone lets have a sexy party. Simpsons is also great but its gotten a little old where as Family Guy is newer and i havent gottne bored of it yet.

i think that some of the early simpsons (first seasons) weren't as funny as the later ones. There was a rumor a while ago about them stoping production of the show because its getting hard to keep writing them. The show is in its 14th season, which also makes it the longest running sitcom.

Family guy also has a not so funny first season, some of the best shows are in the 3rd season (i have all the episodes on my computer because of my love for the show).

Family Guy had potential, but as the series are right now (since FG got cancelled), my vote goes to the Simpsons.

If Family Guy was playing on a cable/satellite network rather than a boradcast newtwork like Fox, it would have been bigger, better, and still running today.

Family Guy is still on t.v. late at night. I forget what channel... but it's definitely out .

Last time  I checked, Cartoon Network was only showing reruns on their "Adult Swim" programming...are they airing new episodes now?

no new episodes are being made, at least not to my knowledge.

look,...     i can totally appreciate the support engendered toward the family guy, but the fact of the matter is - the family guy would not exist without the niche created by the simpsons. admittedly, the primetime cartoon was started with the flinstones back in the late 50's/ early 60's, but it was dead when the simpsons came along around '88. the characters are symbols of all those we know and love...they are most dear. the family guy is funny, of course, but the show is two-dimensional when compared with what has been developed by matt groening. admittedly, the simpsons started in much the same manner, and given more than two seasons to develop the family guy could have fleshed out it's characters and plots to a higher level, but the simpsons just contains more emotion and depth than the family guy. there are moments in simpsons episodes that can urge tears! the family guy is a beautiful piece of work, but as was said before, it is a cheaper brand of humor (bathroom, slapstic, etc.) it never contains the sheer amount of word gags, pop culture refernces, political commentary, and sheer obscure side-ways, inside jokes that the simpsons has to offer. the simpsons will serve up a sight gag, a political reference, and running gag, and a nod to some obscure piece of information only a handful of people will get - all at the same time. what makes the simpsons beautiful is that so many different groups and ages can enjoy it all at the same time. and for those of you who think the simpsons has been failing lately...all i can say is that it has probably just gotten a little to highbrow for your tastes (near death? ... i doubt it) . the simpsons can not be beat, period.

Yea, Family Guy is on Cartoon Network, and TBS Superstaion. I can't get enough of that show! I watch it almost every freakin' night!

I have a question for all of you, who is your favorite character in Family Guy? I think mine is either Peter or Lois. I like Family Guy more because the dad is going crazy all the time while homer gets drunk. Stewie also makes it better because he bent on killing everyone and taking over the world. I like ther simpsons but Family Guy is a good source for a slightly diffrent comedy. I dont see how they stopped making new episodes tough

as jeb said theres no Quagmire in The simpsons. Family guy kicks ass cause it actually makes you laugh more then 2-3 times an episode unlike the simpsons, The Simpsons was good growing up but the shit is lame now the only way to make the show more funny is to have a mini series of Cletus The Slapjawed Yokle? or Prof. John Frink. Family Guy is a gem out of a pile of shit. and The Simpsons got jackall on Futurama.

I was never much of a simpsons fan let alone cartoon kind of guy...  But recently a roomate of mine lent me the second season of family guy and I must say, some really funny shit.  The Simpsons has its moments of pure comical genius but i think that Family guy has it on a bigger scale thus beating out the simpsons.  Looking at what you guys have to say, im guessing there are more family guy likers than simpsons but the poll says differently..  word.
