Title: Bitmaps!! Uniform help
Post by: Rigid Ice on July 29, 2003, 05:45:18 pm
I know for all you GR fans out there, this is very simple, but for RS/UO, its a bit more complicated-

How do people make uniforms so that when you cycle through each one, it looks like they don't even move and only the textures change? (located in the bitmap directory) ??? ???

I've tried to take my bitmap pictures (for the uniforms) and change the opacity to try to line each other up, but they are still a little off.

Is there a program that can simply view the character models and display a texture for them? ???

Please help! Any tips would also be appreciated. Thanks!

*by the way, in GR, you don't need to make any bitmaps, since the game already produces it for you- I think, lol

Um, okay, here's what I meant, LOL

Uh OH!?!?! My uniform in upcoming mod (hope you'll like). Now see, this is the bitmap picture I was talking about:

Now, with my other uniforms, how do people make the uniform itself not seem to move, yet the texture changes-

I know this is exxagerated, but it will help answer the question:

Now see how the uniforms are the same, but if you would cycle through the uniforms in the game, they would move all over the place, which would look tacky- so I was wondering if I could position all the uniforms in the same exact spot but still be able to change the textures (so when you would cycle through the uniforms in the game, the uniforms wouldn't move all over the place).

Hope that helps! :o

Give me a day and I will try to answer it with a little tutorial. I dont think I can explain it without pictures. Also I only use Photoshop, so if you are using anything else I will not be able to answer your questions about your particular program.

Hey- take all the time you want, just as long as it doesn't take too long, LOL  ;)

I use: Adobe Photodeluxe Business Edition, Abode Photoshop 7.0, and the standard "paint"- dont laugh- easier for copy and pasting  ;)

Even if these aren't what you use, still send the tutorials-  ;D I'd greatly appreciate it!

The easiest way I found to align the two photo's is to use the guidelines. Simply pull the down and across from the rulers and line them up with the top of the head and the groin. Then simply take another one copy and paste it into the original, line it up and then "save as" another name. I tried this with the two photos you posted and it worked.

Thanks alot- I used rulers and shut off the very annoying "snap" feature- on with modding...  ;D

Oh, and just for some eye candy, heres a woodland camo I made- way better than my original- original I thought was actually embarrasing, so I had to do something about it- and voila (just heavy and medium needed patched up  ;))

Thanks- you'll have to reinstall the games to see the full thing-  ;D

Skins all finished, just touching up some stuff and working on multiplayer.
