Title: 3D Modeling Help
Post by: Rigid Ice on July 17, 2003, 02:54:06 am
Sorry if this doesn't quite fit these forums, but I have a question:

I have seen people take a picture with several "sections" of textures (legs, arms, etc) and somehow make a certain part on the 3D model display a certain part of the picture. How is this done?

- I am making a kevlar vest, but when I try to load the image, it's all distorted, so I move the image around, but that is impossible due to the 3D model, so I would simply like to take a section of the picture and have it displayed on a specific part of the 3D model.

Thanks!  ;D

If I'm not very mistaken , you have to regroup the faces of the model you want to add the texture to. And then apply it to the new group... thats how i do it... :D

First of all, I'm sorry it took me a while to respond  :(

Second of all, I'm not that "advanced" in 3D Modeling and those terms you used, such as regrouping the faces- I have no idea how to do that- I did find some way called UV Mapping to manually put a certain part of the picture of the 3D Model, but the only problem is that at the center of the model, the image duplicates itself- not sure how to describe it, so just look at the picture below:

The SWAT sign on the back should just cover the entire back- if you need the model and pic, just ask- I am unsing Zmodeler for the 3D modeling (but I can open and save the more common, 3D Studio Max). Thanks!

The "thanks" above may have tricked people into thinking my problem was solved ;)- if anyone can help, please do!
