Title: Ghost Recon footage w/iMovie Post by: Brian on July 06, 2003, 02:40:32 am Well, Pc users have one-upped us in an area we should have been first, Ghost Recon movies!
I'm intent on creating movies from Ghost Recon replay files. However, after a little exploration I must admit I'm already stupmed! As I currently understand it, there are two hurdles that must be cleared: 1] Ghost Recon must run in a window while the movie is recorded in the background. 2] We must find an application that will record sound and video from a single desktop window. You can find the discussion of how this was accomplished in a Windows environment here: http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?s=2905ce8a291273b4bad3520b577ab27b&act=ST&f=2&t=6682&st=0 With the availability and capability of iMovie, Mac users should be able to author some truly thrilling footage of squads in action, including subtitles and a synched sound track. Before we can do so, we need the raw footage of Ghost Recon replay action saved as MOV files. Any suggestions out there? I believe it has the ability to image a specific window, and it can create movies.

I have a small replay movie I did with Snapz somewhere on my comp. I will post it once I find it. Title: Re:Ghost Recon footage w/iMovie Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 06, 2003, 09:43:59 am Use Audio Hijack (search VersionTracker), or wait for an upcoming version of SnapZ Pro X, which is going to include audio-recording ability.
Title: Re:Ghost Recon footage w/iMovie Post by: Brian Koppi on July 06, 2003, 10:13:44 am Thanks for your tips! I had tried an application called "Screen Record 1.5" using Return to Castle Wolfenstein as a test. The fps capture quality was abysmal (though it did capture game sound via external mic feedback).
After checking out the upcoming version of Snapz Pro: http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/ It does indeed seem like this is the only app out there that will do the job correctly. No doubt worth waiting the 4 to 8 weeks until the version release. My question to those of you who have used the current version of Snapz with Ghost recon, what is the command process? Do the Snapz command keys function while Ghost Recon is running? Is it necessary to run Ghost Recon in a window, as opposed to full-screen mode? For anyone who has movies recorded from game playback, I'd very much like to see examples. Maybe we could convince Mauti to add these to the "Movies" section of the file archive? Mauti explained to me how to do it but I was completely lost. He knows how and Im sure if he checks this thread he will explain it. Good luck with it, Id still like to figure it out myself.
