*DAMN R6 Forum

I know there are a few musicians here. Who plays a musical instrument? What genres/styles of music do you play? I play bass and a lil piano, I'm mostly playing jazz, fusion, funk, and progressive rock.
Note: The skin flute is not an instrument. ;)

I play drums mainly (for 26 years).  I also play keyboards, guitar (mainly open tuned slide, but other stuff too), bass and harmonica.  I program loops too!

I played the French Horn for about 8 years.

I've been playing the saxaphone for 6 years and I play a mean Aladdin on the keyboard.

I used to play the double bass and the piano for about 8 years...

I play guitar (electric and acoustic), drums, and compose and trigger MIDI sounds from a NORD virtual analog rackmount synth brain using my G4 800dp.  I create original music but love guitar feedback and distortion to be the drone and edge surrounding melody. I feel myself beginning to digress,

I'v been playing the electric and accustic guitar for about 7 or 8 years. I play hard rock songs on my electric. I barely ever use accustic any more tho :-/ And, I listen to hard rock and deathmetal music..

so that means you have been playing the guitar since you were 3 years old. Is that even possible? ;D

I've been playing the trumpet for about 5 years. I am a member of a Wind Ensemble who over the past year has won the Dixie Classic Band Competition in Virginia (I am from NY so we traveled real far for a big comp) There was about 15 of the best bands on the east coast there so it was a big honor. We also have a streak of getting Gold with distinction in NYSMA (New York State Music Association) for 13 years. Getting in the band alone is an honor, but what is even better is next year as a senior I will be sitting 1st chair   ;)

I play bass and a little guitar. ive been playing bass for 3 or 4 years and im into the funk stylee, but i play metal type stuff with various bands in this town.

Bondo, Victor Wooten (an amazing bassist) started playing when he was 3 cuz his brothers made him, so it's possible. Maybe Snipey exaggerated a little, though. I dunno.

Sry about that lol.. More like 5 years I think... I started playing accustic at 6, then when I was about 11 I got into electric..

I played drums for 4 years.

Bass for 3 years (still going).

And I've been spending a lot of my time screwing around on a used stratocaster.

Ah, my bad Bondo. I meant Ultimo. I've been so busy replying to you lately that I've gotten myself into a rut. lol. No harm done I hope?

Tenor sax for 4 years and im in the drumline via snare.

i have been playing the drums for 8-9 years and i am in the band SBR, see the SBR thread =P.  Play mainly alternitive, punk, hardcore, and deathmetal once i get enough money to buy ANOTHER double bass pedal and a eletric pad to suit it.

Ah Zaitsev, that's cool. My drummer buddy is also really into drum corps stuff. He plays snare too, and I think he'll be marching in a year or so with some big, fancy shmancy drum corps. Whenever I'm at his house, he always makes me watch this drum corps DVD and says "Damn, the cavvies are good" a lot. good times. He's a hardcore drum corps guy. Really good kit player, too.

I've played piano for about 6 years, bass for just over a year. Nothin' attracts the girlies like a man who can tickel the ivorys.

I played the piano for 8 years. I also bought an acoustic a couple years ago but have yet to learn it. For you guitar players, what do you suggest is the best way to learn guitar if you don't have a lot of time to devote to it?

In other news, instruments are good for picking up chicks. Also, high school band is pretty nerdy.

Tasty, you might want to find a teacher and take a lesson or two. Then, just pull out some albums you like, and try to play along with them. It'll take a while, but it helps you develop your ear. Just like 30 mins everyday, try to play a little somethin'-somethin'.

Have you ever seen wootens brother play guitar mellow? he plays it like he's slapping, no picks or anything, and he has snaggle teeth.

Yes, bronto. Slowly but surely getting better. Nowhere near your mad skillz yet. I can play some Led Zepp now... still workin on one of the solos tho.

Well I play/played the violin for 16 years, and the viola for 6. Been in about eight orchestras, and countless quartets.... And was a member of the National accadamy of chamber music, type thingy.

... but i still wish i could hash out a tune on the guitar... and i wish i could play the double bass!

violin for about 8 years... but i havent played a sec for three years now..
oboe, now the 5th year and still going
e-bass... just startet one year ago...
and there is a sweet alto sax i play for half a year... but theres so much else to do :(

Rapid plays the meat trumpet!

The meat trumpet has a very particular sound, almost enchanting. Tis a very rare talent.

It's almost as erotic as the skin flute, which actually originated in The Ramrod, a famous shakespearean playhouse in  London, England during the Elizabethan Era.
