Title: 2003 Gaming
Post by: (SEALs) one on May 21, 2003, 03:30:14 am
This a poll, hope it goes well.
I also tried to keep it varied, not all first person shooters :)

***2003 Upcoming Games***, RvS isn't on the 2003 upcoming game list so far. :(, sorry

Vote well,
one

Are they actually porting some of those (Halo, Doom 3)? If so, whoops, but if not, SIM CITY 4 ALL THE WAY!!!! I loved Sim City 3000, but it doesn't work well under classic... and I hear you can add Sims in Sim City 4, all the better.

The best Sim? game ever was obviously SimCopter.

Anyway, I went for America's Army, because I was anxious when they announced it at first, then was royally pissed when i found out it was PC only. Seriously, who does the army want more of in the technologically based military of today? PC whores that like to fuck around with video games...

Or intelligent mac using whores that may actually be helpful to an army.
Examples:
(Snake, Mauti, mac users who kick ass in the army.)

Anyway, the point is that I'm gonna stop rambling on now, and say that the game will pwn.

One, did you not put RvS as a choice because you thought everyone would choose it, and it would be a wasted poll?
Cause yes, I'm definately waiting for that more than anything else.

America's Army looks neat, but my computer will probably not be able to run it.

America's Army looks like a fun game, but I think the premise behind it is absolutely sick. It encourages immature kids who like to shoot stuff on video games to go sign up and die in the army, based on a cartoonish plot involving the mideast that has very little truth to it at all. Not only are public schools forced by law to give their students names and information to the army, we now have this. Can the army sink any lower in its recruiting practices?

Anyone who's stupid enough to go and sign up just because of America's Army... good riddance. And it doesn't matter why they sign up... the army's about war, war's about death. Anyone who can't figure that out is seriously inept.

Sadly, I'm in the "my comp will never run any of these games" boat. I'm waiting for my bank account to get fat enough to buy a new comp.

I voted SimCity 4, because that is the game I am really excited about from that list. Although, I am partly looking forward to Doom 3, I mean, the graphics are so realistic.

I don't suppose anyone knows the system requirements on AA?
Mac, not pc. Duh. But you knew that.

America's Army comes (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/soon.gif)

AA looks pretty interesting although I would have to try it out before anything else.  Hmm.  Maybe I should download it for the PC. Damn, I hate the freaking PC I got though. :(

I've got real moral problems with AA so I'm really not looking forward to that. Doom3 however... hehe... ;D although my comp won't be able to play it, it just looks too awesome to ignore. HL2 looks just as good, however the chance of that coming to mac is very very slight...

I find that very interesting, because when Doom and Doom II came out, most people had real moral problems with those. The first games to spark true debates over violence in video games.

With moral problem I meant having a problem with the US Army releasing a free game with the intention of getting more volunteers.

I understand what you meant.
I'm just saying that there are different kinds of moral problems, and the original Doom games had moral problems of their own.
Anyway, I don't want to start turnign this into spam, so i'll shut up now.

Wrong. The first game which caused the issue of violence in video games to come to national attention was Death Race, a 1976 arcade game in which the goal was to run stick-figure people over and kill them. Fear my education in video games.
