Title: Max problems Post by: dave-s on May 01, 2003, 07:12:13 pm Has anyone had this problem before?
interactive 3D renderer initialization failed please check your device sttings using the -H command line option The instruction at "0x00000190" referenced memory at "0x00000190" The memory could not be "read" Problem started after I originaly reinstalled it and changed the renderer settings. Now even after to uninstalls and reinstalls it does the same. Cant understand how to open max to re select the corect renderer? Title: Re:Max problems Post by: Cocobolo on May 01, 2003, 07:24:07 pm Sure you don't have a bad piece of memory in there? Maybe changing the setting exposed it, at least that's what it looks like from here.
Title: Re:Max problems Post by: dave-s on May 02, 2003, 07:06:37 pm Ahh, had to buy a new modem, wonder if moving it has moved the memory, Ill give it a go. My machine registers the full ammount but it does seem slightly slower - presumed it was upping from 98 to 2K
Thanks Title: Re:Max problems Post by: dave-s on May 03, 2003, 11:38:38 am OK tried all 3 sticks of memory and even removed and reinstalled the video card, same problem. Ive reinstalled Max a number of times. W2K must remember some settings even after deleting a prog, short of wiping and reinstalling windows I dont know what to do.
Title: Re:Max problems Post by: dave-s on May 05, 2003, 09:33:22 pm Got it sorted had to run this
C:\3DSMAX3\3dsmax.exe -H to get the renderer settings, not sure if its running as well though? Title: Re:Max problems Post by: Cocobolo on May 07, 2003, 11:29:50 pm I didn't (luckily) have to do any additional configuration, and am running win2K now, although most DTD mods came out of win98 (gulp) in 3DS max3. Crashed 3 times in one year so I had to switch.
Title: Re:Max problems Post by: {E}LuSiVe @ college on May 08, 2003, 07:16:29 pm Crashed 3 times in one year so I had to switch. same thing happened to me. im switching to 2k as soon as my friend at NJIT gets me a copy (they have EVERYTHING on their network).... yeah win98 doesnt dump the memory the way its supposed to, so games run slower than they should. hopefully raven shield will run better after i switch my windows to 2k. Title: Re:Max problems Post by: Cocobolo on May 08, 2003, 11:34:49 pm Lemme know, I have a copy of every damn thing, working as a computer tech for the last 8 years has SOME privelages, lol...

Ive not tried GR in W2k yet so cant say if Ive noticed any difference, I cant play the Raven Shield single palyer demo though, doesnt recognise my TNT2 card :( Looks like it will be another 12 months before I can upgrade :( |
