While certainly both go beyond the truth, satire always does. Satire exaggerates to point out real issues in a humourous way. Take the looting one. I don't know if you've read Bush's energy policy, but I have. And it is very much favorable to corporations, it will endanger wildlife and the environment, it fails to promote energy efficiency in cars and thus promotes SUVs. It is a very inefficient policy and so while the animation makes fun of it, the points it tries to make are on...and it is funny because it is true. The second one. His opening line, that we come there to threaten the world. That is the truth. He has deliberately been threatening other countries in his last few speeches. He does have policies that will destroy the environment. Once again it is overdone for the sake of humor but the points are valid. Both of these are funny if you enjoy un-PC humor such as that in The Onion. And both, like The Onion, point out many issues in politics/society. It's nothing but satire, either you agree with it and laugh, or you don't agree with it but laugh anyway, or you're just like, be an asshole, but in that case it would be preferable to just ignore it instead.
