Title: Definiton of Glitching - A Must Read For all who play GhR
Post by: .vooDoo. on March 24, 2003, 02:49:53 am
you need to learn what glitching is in ghost recon
http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/siege-glitchings.htm

glitching can occur on any map and it is possible to be in a crater and not glitch. You should check out the link to learn what glitching really is.

This is a MUST-READ for all! Thx for the tip Valdar.

The most usefull tip I read about glitching on GhR:

Don't lay down on ANY incline!
Instead just move back a little and kneel (and pop up quickly to look/shoot over the edge). Don't put yourself in a situation where it may be a glitch. Kneel and there is nothing to worry about.

Very Interesting Indeed.

Ive read some others just like this.

Another way to avoid glitching is to not crawl.  You can lay down in a trench or crater, but as long as you don't crawl on your belly, you wont glitch.  so kneel walk to the edge, then lay down.

BTW, you can glitch on any edge, not just craters and trenches.  Rocks cause it to.  Any sharp angle like a ridge.

Why the hell do you need an official word on everything? Glitching is cheating! There is no denying it and then there is a rule about cheating. Put 2 and 2 together and... voila!

There was a guy on the MP site about a week ago that basically said there was no glitch, that it was bs.   Saying it was just bad aim.

We went to Farm Day, gave him a sniper rifle, and showed him exactly what it is.  He now completely agrees with how bad it is.  He couldn't touch me until he got within 6 meters or so while standing (at which point, the angle of his shot changes).  But I shot him at will, at any time.

Anyone that doesn't believe it exists, or that it's cheating, just needs to see for themselves.  As for the rules, they seem clear that no exploiting of glitches is allowed.

I know of a few glitches in Red Square that are just awful. It looks like they're in plain view, but you can shoot at them for 5 minutes without getting a single hit, while they can hit you.

well the good idea of this post is to make glitches know from every1 ok

but:

Mauti we need something official
It will also prevent some1 to glitch by error, mean they know what to not do
It will aslo avoid problems in cb if we have a clear ideas of Glitches

what about Ditches?

well it list 2 kind of glitches
Types of glitches:
When you put all three parts together, you are likely to encounter a glitch (of the third kind ?). There are several types of glitches which can be categorized into 2 sections:
1. Wall- and Rock-glitch (W/R-glitch)
2. Crater- or Ditch-glitch (C/D-glitch)

i think there is more glitches, Mr Mellow pointed out somes also, so this link is 30% usefull
Its why i ask Mauti to say us exactly  what we can do or not; Mauti has tons admins maybe he could use em to test and work on it ?
expecting an answer from Mauti...

I think thats the 'safest' way to avoid accidently glitching...

Nice idea although there is 1 flaw-only the host can save replays. Still it is a good idea if you are the host and the other clan might have glitched.

To save replays mainmenu-options-gameplay then click record game.
Then at the end of each game where you see the stat screen at the bottom of the screen is the save replay button. Then save the replay and you can now see that replay any time to your hearts content.

There are some glitches which can happen when you are kneeling, although it's much less common than the glitches while lying prone. In my experience, the kneeling glitches seem to happen most often when someone is kneeling behind a sloping surface (such as a pile of rubble) with their head visible. The standard glitch behavior is experienced: I can't shoot them, but I'm an easy target for them. Keep an eye out for this and see what you find.

In the general case, however, the "don't lie down, just kneel" solution will work.
