Title: Latin 101 Post by: Cossack on January 29, 2003, 05:35:43 am I doubt many of you know Latin seeing how its been disappearing from the American educational system, but lets see if any of you know these mottos I have made up:
IN TARTURIS RAPUI TU AMO PUEROS PARVOS DORMIO CUM VIRIS CORRODO MENTULAS SUM IMPERATOR CULPAE !!! JEB CULPAS HABET MALUS ACE IRRUMAVIT SCORTUMOS COSSACK PEDICAVIT METHEM PYREX MOECHAM EST MINGO IN TUOS Those that know more latin than me, and I wouldnt be suprised if there was someone who knew more than me on the board, feel free to correct me. I dont know alot on the declinsion of "TU." Tomorrow 11PM CST I will reveal the meaning of these sayings and mottos. Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: KoS PY.nq.ict on January 29, 2003, 07:05:54 am well slap my ass and call me Ellen.....
The only language i studied in high school was spanish and I only know about 6% of the language (after 4 levels of classes). I wish I had taken Latin because then it would be easier for me to understand the romance languages. I would love to learn Italian. "PYREX MOECHAM EST" Hmmmm....I have a feeling it's either dirty or sexy. Eithery way I love you my yummy sack. ] WOOT...I'LL BE ON GR STARTING TOMORROW AT 4:00PM Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: iBeer on January 29, 2003, 07:09:17 am uhmmm isnt latin a dead language???
Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: Mr. Lothario on January 29, 2003, 12:03:18 pm OK, just for shits and giggles, I'm gonna guess at the translations of these, before I hit the Fish and get a slightly more accurate version.
IN TARTURIS RAPUI TU -- This one, I just don't know. I'm gonna guess it's either "rape you in the ass" or something along the lines of "may you rot in hell". AMO PUEROS PARVOS -- "Love without disease"? DORMIO CUM VIRIS -- Home and something... "Home and health," maybe? CORRODO MENTULAS -- Again, I dunno. But based on the prefixes of the words, I'll guess it's something about rotting minds/brains. SUM IMPERATOR CULPAE !!! -- "The leaders are responsible" JEB CULPAS HABET -- Something is Jeb's fault, but I don't know what. I don't recognize "habet" as the ancestor of any English word. MALUS ACE IRRUMAVIT SCORTUMOS -- Another one I'm lost on. "Malus" represents the concept of badness, I think. "Irrumavit" and "scortumos" I have no frickin' idea about. Maybe something like "I hope Ace gets bad tumors"? COSSACK PEDICAVIT METHEM -- "Cossack has smelly feet." PYREX MOECHAM EST -- "Pyrex is..." Hm. "Moecham," huh? I'll take a wild guess and guess that it's "Pyrex is cute." MINGO IN TUOS -- Not a clue. I don't know whether "mingo" is a person's name or not. Whatever it is, it's in something. Heh. Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: Cossack on January 29, 2003, 04:55:02 pm Fuck it I will tell you guys the meanings now. Oh by the way PY, all of the words are nasty and sexual.

Bye, Mauti Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: Mr. Lothario on January 29, 2003, 09:51:36 pm Hehe. My freehand translations of Latin need some work. At least I almost got one. ;D
Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on February 01, 2003, 02:07:08 am Many of your definitions are not literal Cossack, but implied. I forget much Latin now, but I do remember that there is a phrase "mea culpae" and I guarantee you it does not mean clit.
Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: Cossack on February 01, 2003, 03:04:41 am heh, I got that word from an online dictionary
Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: Mr. Lothario on February 01, 2003, 12:31:37 pm I've always seen it written as "mea culpa." Perhaps, with the terminal "e", it does mean clit?
Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: kami on February 01, 2003, 05:25:50 pm Miserere mei deus, that's all I've got to say ;)
Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on February 02, 2003, 10:33:46 pm mea culpa is singular, mea culpae is plural. It most definitely does not mean clit.
Kami, something about a God...what is all I remember. Title: Re:Latin 101 Post by: Cossack on February 02, 2003, 10:34:43 pm Culpa is cunt actually Culpae is the genitive case. Landica is clut so it should be SUM IMPERETOR LANDICAE!!
