Title: Hosting/Airports Post by: [d]-[p a t] on January 07, 2003, 02:26:36 am I also read through Evill's thing, tried it, and on my graphite airport it failed to work. any help??
Title: Re:Hosting/Airports Post by: Jeb on January 07, 2003, 03:21:51 am it might depend on how old your base station is. I'm really now sure how the versions go, but try to update the firmware to the latest posible edition. Ask Cringe about hosting with airport, he is one of the few people who host thru airport.
Title: Re:Hosting/Airports Post by: Supernatural Pie on January 07, 2003, 04:39:47 am Ok today Elandrion taught me how to host with my airport. :D Worked perfectly on the very first try!
I'll give the instructions for OS9, since that's what you should be playing rogue spear in, but I'm sure it's similar if not the same for OSX. Ok here's what you do. 1) Make sure you update your airport software (I have version 2.02) 2) Open your TCP/IP in the control panels. 3) Write down the IP Address (10.0.x.x) 4) Open your Airport Admin Utility, which can be found here: Macintosh HD -> Applications (Mac OS 9) -> Apple Extras -> Airport -> Airport Admin Utility. 5) Highlite your base station, and click "Configure." 6) Now click on the tab that says "Network" 7) Click "Port Mapping..." 8) Press "Add," and in Public Port, enter 2346 In Private IP Address, type in the IP you wrote down in step #3. In Private Port, enter 2346 9) Repeat step 8 exactly, but replace "2346" with "2347" 10) Repeat step 8 exactly, but replace "2346" with "2348" 11) Shut the Airport Admin Utility, and save the changes you made. 12) Open Airport, and press "Turn Airport Off," wait about a minute, then press "Turn Airport On" You are now ready to host Rogue Spear! Once again, many thanks to *DAMN Elandrion, he was a great help. Maybe an admin could make this a sticky thread for anyone who wants to be able to host with airport. --Snipie. :-[ ::) Title: Re:Hosting/Airports Post by: tf6*PaT on January 07, 2003, 07:52:56 pm ok i am at school right now but I will try this when I get home. one question. How do I tell what software my airport is? I think it may say it in the network info of the os x control pannel. is that where I believe I remember seeing it. Snipe: do you have graphite airport or snow airport? I used the same steps Mr. Cringe gave me that worked for a snow airport and failed for me. ??? Also.. My IP address changes a lot. from 10.0.1.3 to 10.0.1.4 and 10.0.1.20 or something. Does this happen to you? It could be because my dad brings his laptop home and doesn't have it consistently connected to the airport network so it has to reassign addresses... just an idea as i'm not sure.
Title: Re:Hosting/Airports Post by: *TF6_Mr.Grape* on January 07, 2003, 08:37:37 pm I just bought an Airport and I was able to host rs. I re-installed rs and now I can host anymore. When I press the start button my screen goes black and nothing happens. Also my air port is white. Is their really different color airports?

Does this happen to you? Yes it does. Not to worry. I havn't tried hosting with a changed IP from what I had to enter into the port mapping. However, all you have to do for this is simply update the ip in the port mapping if you want to host, and restart the basestation. Took me all of 1 minute. And I don't think it should matter if it's a snow or graphite airport. I never knew there was a difference. Mine is grey with a dark apple on it, so my guess would be graphite, but I doubt there's a difference in software capabilities. Title: Re:Hosting/Airports Post by: Archer on February 15, 2003, 06:03:37 pm hey Snipe, is there any difference in host with Ethernet or with a base station?
cuz i have a basestation for my dad's laptop's airport. but we have ethernet for the rest of the computers. but they still run through the airport system. i also have cable. is it my basestation the problem, or is it the fact that i have cable and a firewall. and if it's firewall, how do i turn that off?
