He still has Rabid on the website, heh. Anyway, the only way you can pin him down and get him in trouble is that if you can prove that free copy means illegal download because technically he could mail them a copy of the game....

Nothing will happen to the members of M4, just Mainman, because he is the one who is saying that he will give them copies, and any of them who have taken copies of it.

honestly who cares if those people pirate? on the global scale of injustices, software piracy doesnt really register. i bet 1/2 of you downloaded the game anyway. and even if you are against piracy, why go tattling on people that do? fuckin facist narcs. its not going to stop piracy to bust one single perpetrator, its just going to make you look like more of a dick for doing it.

Title: Re:WAREZ IN THE HOUSE
Post by: Typhy on November 21, 2002, 01:05:19 am
I care if people pirate for lots of reasons, first and most importantly, it takes away money that would've gone to Aspyr. Secondly, it's unfair to those of us who spent our money to buy the game. Third, it's ilegal. The only pirate that I will ever let go is 3D studio Max, I know that certian people like Cocobolo, Cobra6 and maybe even Mauti have pirated that, I think that if Apple's going to overprice it that much, and all that you need it for is modding, its not unaceptable to pirate a copy. I don't care what people think of me for trying to get pirates in trouble. I'd do it to anyone, no matter how respected, if I found out that Mauti was pirating anything, I'd turn him in even. I hate pirates.

Title: Re:WAREZ IN THE HOUSE

Also, it's kinda dumb to say on the internet that you've pirated something.

I just want to say that I, Cringe, have/will not actively supported this, and have/will not take part in it. I am opposed to Pirating.

I would like to be the first to stand up and congradulate Typhy for showing the personal courage and integrity to stand up for what is right. We have to do everything in our power fight these dangerous warez pirates. They've infected every level of our society, our government, our schools, even.... our homes.

If the the corruption of our society by these warez pirates is not stopped soon, it may not be stopped at all. We, as Americans, need to band together at times like these, and do our best to ferret out those that seek to destroy our way of life.

Once again, I'd like to thank Senator McCarthy --errp i mean, Typhy for showing us all what it takes to be an American!

----Note to moderators, my post would have been much funnier had you not censored Senator McCarthy. Although that thought itself is rather scary - which is worse, McCarthyism or Censorship of McCarthyism?

For those who didn't get a chance to read what typhy wrote, he basically turned in a person he knew was pirating a ceratain game.

bit of a double standard, eh? Also, I wasn't aware that 3DSM ever came out for mac... damn, gotta find me a copy...

I don't think it is out for mac. I think Typhy's saying that Mauti and a few other people use it for mods on their pc.

Cringe is lying.  He comes over to my house, plugs his ipod into my computer, then takes all of the game images off of my computer hardrive.

And can one of you let me see the ??, Typhy or Ben please?

Title: Re:WAREZ IN THE HOUSE
Post by: Jeb on November 21, 2002, 02:23:38 am
I didn't notice anything about warez on that site, but one could claim that the leader would be mailing copys to people. But, with the advent of the internet, broadband internet connections, and cdrws it would seem unlikely.
I do think that if most games used serial numbers for online play (like q3, rtcw, and starcraft) it would eliminate a shitload of piracy.

Its also called piracy to download mp3s, and i'm sure non of you have any of those  ;).

First (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/offtopic.gif), Haz, are you still boycotting GameRanger? and second, infect go to http://www.geocities.com/flamewind103/m4warez.jpg to see the whole ?? and http://www.geocities.com/flamewind103/sad.jpg to see the blue text WHERE IT SAYS DOWNLOADED.

PS. you have to copy/paste the link because you can't link directly to geocities (dunno why)

Alright tards...

Mauti has VPC and does stuff in there...3DSM is not out for the Mac. As for Cocobolo and Cobra6, they are modders for the DTD team for the PC, they have full jobs and I doubt they pirate stuff.

Jeb, way to copy just about what I said in my first post of the thread  ;)

As for Typhy, I think he is just sending a SS to Evill because he got bitched the same way...probably looking for mainman to get banned for a while.

Title: Re:WAREZ IN THE HOUSE
Post by: Typhy on November 21, 2002, 03:50:22 am
I don't know about Cobra6, but I know that Coco pirated it. The reason that I am not fully against it is because there hasn't been an effort to make it more acessable for people with a limited ammount of money, like there has been for most programs, like Photoshop with Elements. And yes, that and other reasons are why I want to get Mainman ban, but mostly, I just hate pirates.

Infect,
So nice of you to include my name in all this, but I didn't even see the site! :) You probably mean Bronto! Personally, I'm sitting back and just watching the show. I don't pirate personally, and understand the more people who pirate, the less great games we will get (people will stop wanting to make the games if there is no money involved)... But I also understand games can be expensive (overpriced a lot)... So, I'm just chilling Infect..

Ben

Tards doesn't even begin to cover it.  First of all, whatever the site used to say about piracy is no longer up.  Secondly, geocities sucks rat scrotum. . .the pages Flame posted are "unavailable."

But most importantly, there is absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with claiming to pirate a game in cyberspace.

I can say all I want that "hey, I'll give you a free copy of this game," but unless I actually do it, no rule has been broken.  So cool the attempt at yet further Rapid bashing.

This thread is locked until anyone can think of anything as clever as Alaric's comment to add.

Rapid bashing? What are you smoking dragonmaster?  ;) - assassin

LoudNotes I reopened this thread because I think many guys want to add their opinion here.

Typhy I hope you haven't send Evill a screenshot of his site. Although warezing is "wrong" I would never go that far. I think Mainman didn't know that he was doing something wrong and forbidden. If he knows that it is forbidden and that he could get banned he wouldn't post such messages in the public.

I think he just thought you can get everything on the internet so why shouldn't I share Ghost Recon with my friends. If everyone is doing it it can't be wrong.

Typhy if you really have sent Evill a screenshot I would like to ban you for being such an ASS to someone you even doesn't know. Instead you should mail the guy and tell him that he hurts the small Mac gaming industry with his sharing and that he could get permabanned for this.

Just my 2cents,

Mauti

Ok, I'm going to try and post this in the nicest possible way. No, I havn't sent Evill the screen shot, but yes, I do plan to. Mainman's been around 8-10 months, he knows what pirating is, and he knows it's ilegal. Mauti, here is what I want to question, you're calling me "such an ass" for sending in screen shots of a pirate to Evill, but you said nothing to Viper about sending in those chat logs against me. You know what I think? I think that you're afraid to go up against the more respected members of the community. Go ahead and ban me, you've already found lame things twice to ban me for, hell, why not a third?

Title: Re:WAREZ IN THE HOUSE
Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on November 21, 2002, 10:36:48 pm
Typhy, fuck off. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. If Mauti was "afraid" to go up against respected members of the community, he wouldn't have suspended Ace as an admin for a few weeks, would he?

Also, the situations between you and mainman are different. IN your case, you pretended to be an admin and Viper wanted to stick it to you. IN this case, you want sweet revenge because you got bitched inthe same manner, so you want to take it out on anyone that you can.

These are Mauti's forums and he doesn't need annoying pricks like yourself or Rapid ruining them. He can do as he pleases and doesn't have to be questioned about it. Like I have said to Rapid earlier, if you don't like the way it is run, then stay the fuck away from them.

Title: Re:WAREZ IN THE HOUSE

It's obviously been a while since you've been on GameRanger, Sin. Viper got me ban for 1 reason, to piss off Rapid. Mainman's been an asshole to me, and I'm going to email Evill the screen shots. I don't even feel like posting anything more here, I'll conclude with the words 'Fuck off Sin'.

this is rediculous,

A typhy don't take out your agression on a poor helpless noob, even though viper did that to you. Remember the trite saying "two wrongs don't make a right"

Mainman, evill reads the forums and he reads them more than many of you think. So mainman may have set himself up to get pwned.

I'm also sure that most of you here have downloaded a mp3, so surely we all should all get banned for that because typhy cares so much about piracy.

Yep Pyrex, that is correct, both of those are none. I've pirated one program in my life, that was a copy of R6 because my CD got lost, I recently bought a new one. I've paid for every program on my computer. Just because you assholes like to steal because you are to stupid to find out how to make money, don't blame the fact that I dislike pirates on me.

Although you may have bought a new one...you still pirated a copy. So yes Typhy you are a hypocrit for saying you never pirated. Your bs is in your quote above. There is no excuse for pirating. You do or you don't.

Mauti...I support any decision you make. Please make the right one.

Typhy....no exuses...no exceptions. You bought the cd, lost it, and then dled a copy from someone else. You violated the copywrights so yes...you are a pirate and a hypocrit. Now stop trying to say otherwise.

how will getting mainman banned help your life typhy?

If a software company wanted a surefire way in stoping piracy they could use the cd key system that ID uses in most of their products. Rather than the anoying "please insert cd into drive" shit that happens now.

Go for it Typhy. Let's see what they say. How would you know how to get a copy of R6 since you say you hate piracy anyway?

Oh and btw...stop saying you have parkinsons and are stuck in a wheelchair. Unless of course you're lying about the whole "I play select soccer" crap.

However I posted I would like to ban you because I really have enough of this bs - everyone is attacking each other. Sad, very sad. This is no argument, this is nothing. One side is right, one side is wrong. Unlike most arguments. Not only is pirating wrong, it is also against the law. Period, paragraph, end, over, done. I'm not even going to get into pirating of MP3s and the burning of music. This is an issue over pirating games, and software, music is a different issue.

Btw, is there a reason that it logs me out as soon as a try and click on this thread?

*Shoves brother out off of computer*

Mauti, you know I don't care about the forums much, I was refering to the Battle League. Pyrex, I don't belive you for a second.

*Typhoon III takes back control of keyboard from Typhy51*

Py, you're say that Typhy is wrong for having me send him a copy of Rainbow Six since he destroyed the CD? I think not. After paying for the CD, he may recive a copy of it in whatever way he wants.

*Back to keyboard after brother is done laughing at the pathedic quality as he puts it, and moronic nature of this board*

Jeb, Mainman getting ban won't help my life, but I feel that it's the right thing, the same question can be asked about Vip3r getting me ban, how can banning someone that you've never spoken to help your life?

I gonna lock this now. And in general Typhy you are right that pirating is wrong I just stated in my post that you shouldn't go that far without even talking with the guy who posted about the free version.

Best examples of systems that went down because of pirating are the Amiga and Commodore C64 ;) Jesus can anyone remind the phenomenal North and South game  ;D

I think someone should start a new thread about those systems.

Mauti
