Title: Ghost Recon Mac and PC multiplayer
Post by: mudface on November 14, 2002, 08:08:18 pm
Hey,

Does any one know if there is any way to play Ghost Recon or Desert Seige on Mac vs. PC?  I know the Mac GR shipped at 1.2 but what about Desert Seige? Is that the same version number?  Any thoughts?

Thanks.

You'll have to wait for Aspyr to release the 1.4 patch which they say that they're working on. Then you can only play with a PC running Dessert Siege.

So right now, there is no way at all to play against PC users?  Not even running Desert Seige?

Nope. Aspyr stated it was because the new versions were released "without warning." They'll be updating their website when we can expect an ETA.

Sigh.

yes, you can play pc and mac. Here are the instructions.

The current mac version is 1.2
The most up to date version for pc is 1.4

if you are patched to 1.4 alerady, reinstall ghost recon and patch to 1.2, rather than all the way up to 1.4

then install desert siege

thats what i did and i play fine, any questions, email me or talk to Dr.Chase, he knows too.

XO: That's on a PC right? So if you got a couple of freinds with a PC and you wanna have a lan party, you'd have to make sure that they are running GhR/DS with the 1.2 patch.

But in order to play on a random PC server, you gotta wait for Aspyr to put out the 1.4 patch.

You can't play on random PC servers unless someone feeds you IP's. Ghost Recon is not set up like MOH:AA in where you can join games from within the application.

He can when he get the IP of this server he can manually join. I dont think that he meant joinig over GR a PC game!

Cool.  Yeah, I'm having a LAN party tonight and most of my sorry friends are PC users.  This will be sweet.  Thanks for the info folks!

So if all the PC users install a 1.2 version, can we play either GR or DS?  Or can we only play DS?  Sorta like Rogue Spear (on playing Urban OPs against PC users)..

You should be able to play both of them, but the problem is trying to find the 1.2 patch for the PC and if your friends want to completely un-install their games and re-install to a lower patch to satisfy you.

For PC users, they would have to install 2 more patches to get back to 1.4 after going back to 1.2 (need 1.3 to get to 1.4)
