Title: Music: what are you guys listening to?
Post by: tasty on September 28, 2002, 11:12:29 pm
After reading (and posting) on the wide variety of political issues that are currently raging in the forums, I thought that it would be a nice change of pace to discuss something that isn't quite as heavy. So anyway, what are you guys listening to right now? What are your favorite groups/musicians? Music IS the universal language?

What I am listening to right now:
Mountain Goats- All Hail West Texas!
Outkast- Stankonia (classic)
Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs box set
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
Beulah - When Your Heartstrings Break
Enon - High Society

I am going to mucho concerts in October too??I am seeing Clinic/Apples in Stereo, Dismemberment Plan, Enon, and Pedro the Lion.

My 2 main resources for music news/reviews:

Brain, Dvorak's Symphony for the New World is a must have.

Prokofiev, the guy who wrote Peter and the Wolf is also one to consider.

Maybe Mahler's 5th as well.

One of these days I'm going to have to raid my Mom's classical music collection and see what I have and what I should try to find.

P.S. Mozart owns all.

Brain, don't forget Henichen's "Dresden Concerti". Heinichen was a little-known composer who should have been more famous. Good stuff.

At the present time, I'm most into video game music and remixes thereof. Accordingly, I hit www.vgmix.com and remix.overclocked.org quite a bit. My current favorite songs/remixes and the games they're from:
The Police Station - from Toki no sugiyuku mama ni (I dunno either. Some Japanese game that was never released here.)
Friendly Happy Robot - from Chrono Trigger
Inna's Tetris Song - from Tetris, obviously
Zillion MelodicTrance OC Remix - from a Japanese game called Zillion
Breezy (BTP Remix) - from FF8
Wicked Orchestra - from Castlevania

Other than that, I'm listening to a fair bit of anime soundtracks (mostly Love Hina), and of course the standbys like Mr. Heinichen and co., Noisepie, the Aquabats, the Brown Derbies, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Golden Shower, and so on.

holy shit, with only a few exceptions, most of you people like HORRIBLE music. especially bondo's pop.

----fuckin awesome bands/albums----
smashing pumpkins - saimese dream, mellon collie and the infinite sadness
led zeppelin - physical graffiti
midnight oil - desiel and dust, blue sky mine
mr bungle - california
pink floyd - animals, wish you were here
jimi hendrix - axis bold as love, electric ladyland

----good bands/albums----
spacehog - resident alien
screaming trees - dust
weezer - the blue album, pinkerton
sunny day real estate - diary
nine inch nails - downward spiral
silverchair - frogstomp, neon ballroom
radiohead - ok computer, the bends
our lady peace - happiness is not a fish you can catch

hmm, thats all that comes to mind right now. id go sort through my collection for more, but its upstairs and im lazy.

----and a few generalizations----
classical - woot, the foundation of all other music. brain has this section covered.
jazz and blues - the base of all good rock.
punk - some of it is catchy, but it lacks depth... 2 minute thriller music.
rap, r&b and pop - this crap isnt even music. the level of talent needed to create this is so minimal compared to other genres. blarg.

before i let anyone else post on this topic, i want to put a stop to one rumor right now. i am tired of people making a generalization about a genre and saying that "it isnt music" or "it takes no talent." folks, all genres have their talented artists, and all genres have influenced the other genres as well. So geek usa, before you or anyone else goes around making these outragous claims, take a look at the music you listen to now. Geek USA, almost everyone on your list was influenced by James Brown, the greatest R&B artist of all time. jimi hendrix was as close to a blues guitarist as you are going to get in rock and roll- and R&B= rhythm and blues.  rap was simply an iteration of r&b and blues that developed later. i can guarantee you that nine inch nails and radiohead were both influenced by george clinton, the father of modern rap, since he pretty much single handedly invented sampling and the music of both these artists is heavily-laden with samples and loops. and as far as "pop" music goes, that definition can be as broad as you want? under the definition of music as a whole (as compared to classical, jazz, etc), every single musician on your list is a pop artist. This post is not meant to start a debate over what is and isn't "music" because these points are not debatable. they are facts.

well brain, rap might influence modern classical (oxymoronic, eh?) composers.

[rant]
sure, all music style take talent. some just take more and are reckognized for havin talent. Namely, bands where people actually play instruments, etc. take more talent than say, rap or pop. Also, many pop stars don't write their own songs. They're just handed a piece of paper with some lyrics and told to sing it.

As for the definition of pop you gave, sure, the word can mean any artist that's popular. But usually when someone says "pop", they refer to songs on the top 40 charts, or whatever the teenyboppers are listening too. Right now this genre seems too be oversaturated with the shit-for-music that we all know and love as rap and "pop".

And we call it pop because there's nothing else you can call it. Its only identifying charachteristics is pre-packaged music and a top-heavey female or two singing about watered down subjects that are acceptable to the vast majority of america so they can sell records. Sometimes they throw a curve and sing about something bad just to stir up some publicity and so the teenyboppers can get their first taste of rebellion. but even then the offense is something that won't be too bad to end someone's carrer.

the other shit-for-music we have polluting our world is what some call "confessional rock" or "down rock". Bands like Staind, Linkin Park, and we even have depressing rap getting popular with some of Eminem's new stuff. You know what i call it? shit-for-music! It's a bunch of overgrown babys whining because they had a couple problems in their life. y'know what? FUCK YOU! I got problems of my own without having to hear about yours too. And personally, when i'm in a  depressed mood, i want to get rid of it, not help it grow.

Newsweek's cover this week is on teen depression. you wanna know why teens are depressed? look at the shit-for-music they're baraged by. Staind singing about how his father left. Linkin park singing about how everything they do fucks up. Nickelback singing about more father shit. Yea guys, i'm sorry you had shit happen, but I don' wanna fucking hear about it. Save your bitching for the shrink. He might help you more than i do.

eh, i'ma  bit off track now. The point is, some music is music. Like say... I hate country, but i grant that it take more talent to be in a country band than it does to be some solo pop singer. All a solo pop singer really is is just an overconfident karaoke singer. egad, i better stop now.

[/rant]

just had to get that off my chest.

Title: Re:Music: what are you guys listening to?
Post by: Bondo on September 30, 2002, 06:32:28 pm
Well, your point about pop singers being kareoke on the big time (paraphrasing of course) is somewhat true...that is why I like it...because I can sing along.  Then again, some pop stars do have talent...U2 I would call pop (I suppose it could be rock as well), The Beatles were pop, no one would deny them talent.  But going beyond those that no one would deny, I think it is becoming too popular to claim that NSYNC or the Spice Girls have no real talent and are not writing their songs but are rather just singers.  Each of the Spice Girls for example has done a solo album, most of which they wrote the songs for.  Mel C's CD has some really deep, well written songs.  I doubt that NSYNC wrote any of the songs on their first CD, I'll give you that much, but most of the songs on Celebrity were written by them.  Same goes for the Spice Girls, they didn't write their first two (although they contributed to the songs), but the third CD Forever is where they were finally able to show off their own stuff.  In both cases the third CDs are the best ones.  So yes, some of the complaints against pop music are valid, but most people generalize too much and don't give credit where credit is due.

capt has a point...
i usuta like punk quite a bit, like ten foot pole, lagwagon, no use for a name, pulley and whatever else, but all the songs end up being about girls they cant get, and generaly depressing music. if you look towards the harder rock music now adays its all about being depressed and hating football players. i think its the new Korn music video with that loser getting his ass kicked by a group of big guys in highschool.
AFI is a good punk band, but i guess what i've grown to hate about punk/hard rock music is the fact that its really depressing.
Listening to hard rock music alll the time would be like bondo watching the end of the lion king over and over (it makes him cry).

Say what you want about trance music, but i'm sure half of you haven't never heard "acual trance" aside from the darude and kylie minoque shit which is fed to you off mtv. Trance music is happy, and energetic. Not dark, gloomy, angry and suicidal like modern hard rock.

oh i forgot to mention that boy band teeny bopper shit... that is also depressing music because if a girl older than 12 hears you'd listening to it you get laughed at.

U2 I would call pop (I suppose it could be rock as well), The Beatles were pop, no one would deny them talent.

=======================================================

But going beyond those that no one would deny, I think it is becoming too popular to claim that NSYNC or the Spice Girls have no real talent and are not writing their songs but are rather just singers.  Each of the Spice Girls for example has done a solo album, most of which they wrote the songs for.

Bondo, calling U2 and the Beatles "pop" by today's standards is a slap in the face. The major differences, (and I mean major) are that they both write/wrote their own songs most of the time (U2 occasionally plays songs written by friends) and they both play their own instruments. "pop" by today's standards are like someone said earlier, glorfied karaoke singers, and by calling the Beatles or U2 pop is absolutely disgusting.

The definition of pop nowadays is a glorifed karaoke singer who spent most of his/her time in dance class rather than learning how to be a real musician and picking up a guitar, trumpet, or any other instrument.

I for one am glad that pop is crashing big time...hopefully this sorry excuse for music is gone in the next couple of years.

Jeb, the part I cry about in the Lion King is actually in the middle, not at the end.

I admit that I can't play a guitar, I can't play drums, but I can sing...does that make me talentless?  I do know how to play the French Horn but I can hardly make vocal music like that.  Why can't being an expert of the bodies instrument, the voice, be enough...why does someone have to use an additional instrument to be talented in your minds.  That is where I find those who bash pop music completely lacking in logic.  They give no credit to the ability to sing just because they prefer instrumental to vocal abilities.  Many rock groups have lead singers who don't play an instrument, so is the lead singer not talented?

I certainly hope that bad pop music goes away (Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, etc.) and that the better pop music (NSYNC, Savage Garden, Spice Girls, Seal) remains.

Well, just because today's pop isn't like the pop of the 60s doesn't make The Beatles not pop.  Same goes for U2.  Just because most people's definition of Pop is limited don't make that untrue.

OK, time for a brief lesson in etymology by cookie.

The word "popular" originates from latin word populus, meaning "of the people".  This today is interpreted as meaning "in public favor". Pop is simply an abbreviation of the word. Pop music as a genre has come to be associated with Britney Spears and the like but it hasn't always been this way, as in the case of the Beatles. Sorry to rain on your parades pop haters, but the Beatles were the equivalent of todays N'Sync. So before you start bitching about how much you hate pop and how much you love the Beatles, think about the meaning behind it all, assholes. JK JK about that last part pals  ;D

Namely, bands where people actually play instruments, etc. take more talent than say, rap or pop.

e.g. my favorite currently-producing band, the Barenaked Ladies. Ability to play instruments? Check. Ability to sing (with some beautiful harmonies, no less)? Check. Songwriting skill and lyrics which are often quite deep and/or meaningful? Check. (Mostly) upbeat- or cheerful-sounding songs? Check. Sense of humor? Check. Good stuff.

Now, first off, most of you folks will only recognize about half of these bands, not because you aren't enlightened or anything, but its because most of them are musicians music. Geekie might know some of them, since he knows who Mr. Bungle is. Some of it is mainstream, some of it isn't. None of them are really obscure bands or anything.  And now...The list!

Bands/musicians:
Frank Zappa
King Crimson
Primus (and anything involving Les Claypool)
Pat Metheny Group
Headless Torsos
Attention Deficit
Rush
Dream Theater
Tool
Victor Wooten
Stanley Clarke
Jaco Pastorious
The Residents
Dave Matthews Band (everyone loves 'em)
Larry Graham
Parliament Funkadelic
Pink Floyd
Steve Vai

And, if anyone knows the following two, they get a bowl of Mr. Mellow's Yellow Jello. Tetsuo Sakurai
Uncle Moe's Space Farm

Now, I don't really care much about most of the pop music out there, but the way I see it, they all have some talent if they can sell a record. There's only a few bands that I absolutely hate. That'd be The Strokes and The Hives. Absolute crap in my opinion. Now, I would put Linkin Park on there, but you gotta give them credit for screaming at the top of their lungs an entire tour. I'm surprised they didn't have strokes (no pun intended) or kill their voices. Anyways. That's my 2 cents.

My roomate was "Beatles pop, heh." Let's just say that he went through the bookmarks that I keep online and he stumbled across the forum.

As for what I am listening to...in no particular order, within the last month I have listened to all or part of these albums:

The Beatles: Revolver, Abbey Road
Nirvana: Nevermind, In Utero
System of a Down: System of a Down, Toxicity
Linkin Park: Hybrid Theory
The Clash: London Calling
Pennywise: About Time, Full Circle, Straight Ahead, Land of the Free
AFI:  The Art of Drowning
Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II
Jimmy Hendrix Experience: Are you Experienced?
Metallica: S & M

I am sure there are more, but this is all I could think of from the top of my head.

Audioslave sounds very promising...I hope more of their stuff comes out soon so I can get a full sampling of what they have done.

Audioslave is a band comprised of the remaining Rage Against the machine  guys with Chris Cornell as their singer.

Bronto: How do you like Pearl Jam and not Nirvana?

Title: Re:Music: what are you guys listening to?

i like nirvana, but i like the skill/sound of pearl jam better. everyone calls pearl jam grunge because they came about the same time as nirvana, but the guitar riffs and good lyrics were what drew me more. somehow 'rape me' just doesnt work. of course, i have to like nirvana for the path they cleared etc. but i dont have to like them better then the bands they helped clear the way for. toodlez hottie.

I saw godsmack/deftones/puddle of mudd. deftones owned but godsmack had a cool stage show and the bassist went out in the crowd. we booed puddle of mudd off the stage and i called him a fag and he heard me so he called me a motherfucker. it was cool.

I only read the first page then I skipped the rest, but I needed to make a post. omg ben you listen to eminem, I thought you were better than that. Eminem, pop(anything associated with pop; pop-punk;pop-rock;jock-rock a.k.a linkin park) those things i just cant stand. Unfortunatly thats all I hear on the radio these days and thats the reason my radio isnt on that much. and as for bronto and his booing, lol PoM sometimes deserves that (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/icon_bluh.gif) and for all you people who listen to music to get you angry personally I dont really see the point in that.

Eminem's not for everyone... I friggin hate him except for particular songs... You should listen to these three.... They own! Honestly, I hate what I've heard from Eminem, but these 3 songs make me up for it :

Lose Yourself
The Way I am
Hailey's song

Those three own! Heh... Other Awesome bands listed from YOU MUST GET THEM NOW to they're pretty good are:

Eminem - Lose Yourself (the best)
Breakin Benjamin - Medicate, Natural Life, Home, and Polyhemorous
Audiovent - The Energy
Chevelle - The Red
Eminem, The Way I am and Hailey's song
Nirvana - Lithium
Disturbed - Remeber
TRUST Company - Downfall
Rage - Renegades of Funk
Lost Prophets -  Shinobi Vs  Dragon ninja
LNKN Park - One Step Closer and the remix cd (or so i hear about the cd)
sev- The Same Old Song

I know no one will read these, or if they do they'll dismiss them... still they're awesome songs! Especially the Audiovent Eminem Breakin Ben and Chevelle!

Ben

P.S. (Moded in) Listen to these songs all the way through... the Breaking Benjamins have awesome chorus's/endings... not so great at the start... The Energy for Audiovent owns at the start! I get into that...

Wasn't there a thread about the best cd's 2003!? Couldn'T find it anymore.

Well I just want to point out some very cool new bands and cd's going into the direction of indie/punk/rock pop.

Hot Hot Heat - Make up the breakdown (top songs: No Not now, Bandages, get in or get out, and many more) Cookie and Tasty get them!!!
Ok Go - OK Go
Athletes - several cds i.e. You got the style and vehicles and animals
Wir sind Helden - M?ssen nur wollen(german, but could be also interesting for some of you)
Underwater Circus - Not you (german rock band featuring on the Igby goes down soundtrack)

Further I rediscovered some older bands:

Jellyfish ("The Ghost at number one" is one of my favourites)
Nada Surf (didn't hear them for a long time but all in all they aren't that bad; Popular, Hyperspace, Love Inside, Bacardi...)
Pete Yorn - great moody music: Closet, Black and Life on a chain are must haves.

For all you "hardrock" fans my favourite is Orange 9mm - Lies and Alien.

Further you all have to download(isn't available for buy) A Stroke Of Genius  (Vs Christina Aguilera) Fantastic voice over and combination of indie pop with main stream vocals. Sounds fresh and cool.

Enough for today hope you enjoy my selection of indie music.

Bye,

Mauti
ps.: the best website with band descriptions is the All Music Guide (http://www.allmusic.com/), especially for all you indie pop lovers.

Led Zeppelin-Heartbreaker
Grateful Dead-Wharf Rat
Neil Young and Crazy Horse-Fuckin Up
Def Leppard-Pour Some Sugar On Me
Iron Maiden-The Trooper
AC/DC-Back in Black
Jerky Boys-Masturbation Box
Jefferson Airplane-White Rabbit
George Thorogood-Cocaine Blues
James Brown-The Big Payback
Hank Williams Jr.-Tear in my Beer
The Ramones-Judy is a Punk
Scarface-No Tears
Jimi Hendrix-Machine Gun
Judas Priest-You Got Another Thing Comin'

If you listened to all these songs your eyes would be glazed like me.

Well Mellow I suggest to check out these 5 songs:

Hot Hot Heat - No, not now
Underwater Circus - Not you
Ok Go - Get over it
Athletes - El Salvador
Orange 9mm - When you lie (if you like hardrock)

This should give you a good overview how they sound.

Enjoy (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/dj.gif)

ps.: bringing up old topics isn't anything bad as long as they are good (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/icon_bluh.gif)

My List:
Led Zeppelin - II, IV, Physical, How the West Was Won (awesome, makes Song Remains the Same sound like a bootleg played through a garden hose)
Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies (think Floyd on heroin)
Jesus and Mary Chain - Munki
Elton John - Madman Across the Water (after that he got into the "I'm a pop singer" mode)
T.Rex - Electric Warrior
BRMC - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club  (why I still have faith in rock and roll)
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew/Kind of Blue (his best 2 IMO)
Gram Parsons - GP/Grevious Angel   (what the Eagles wish they sounded like and what most Alt Country bands aspire to achieve)
Black Crowes - Amorica (Underrated)
Stones - Sticky Fingers
Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust
Richard Wagner - Valkyre
Black Flag - Damaged III  (intense, too bad nobody today can top it)
The Charlatans UK - Self titled
ANYTHING BY the Verve
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Pyschedelic Garage rock ala Syd Barrett/Early Stones

I'm a pretty big fan of Letum's list. Agree with a lot of that.

In Addition, everyone check out:
Dismemberment Plan - One of the coolest sounding bands ever, they just broke up and are on their farewell tour
High Llamas - really trippy sounding Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts club era sounding shit
Stone Roses - pretty cool 1980s British mod band
The Notwist - German electro band, their new album Neon Golden pwns

Les Claypool fuckin pwnz0rs. He used to play with a friend of mine, Colonel Bruce Hampton.

If any of you have LameWire search for Galactic - Big Bottom. It's one of the best bass solo's ive heard in a while, also it was recorded live at Bonnaroo, so it has the great hippie effect that every song needs.

Ok it seems that most people don't listen to the kind of music I do, but I'll list a few bands I'm listening to anyway, and my favorite song of theirs for tthose of you who would take the time to download their stuff, but I know you are all uncaring bastards!:

Atreyu - Lip Gloss & Black
Hopesfall - The End of An Era
Converge - The Saddest Day
Thrice - See You in The Shallows
Shai Hulud - Set Your Body Ablazee
Poison The Well - A Wish for Wings that Work
At The Drive In - Arcarsenal
Slow Dive - Soulvaki Space Station
Modest Mouse - Doin The Cockaroach
Bright Eyes - Haligh Haligh
Ugly Casanova - Cat Faces
Pepper - Boot
Slightly Stoopid- Officer

I mostly listen to hardcore, I used to listen to punk but after a whille got tired of it.  I like hardcore because the bands put a lot of passion into their songs, sometimes the intensity in the music makes such a presence i don't even care whether the song sounds good.

Title: Re:Music: what are you guys listening to?

LoseMoney, I wouldn't consider At the drive in as hardcore more indie/noise rock.

However they make great songs check out: Rolodex Propaganda, Invalid Litter Department and One armed scissor.  These are my favourites and Patter against user is also quite good but I didn't listen to  Arcarsenal yet so may it beats them all.

Bye,

Mauti

Lose! Slowdive is awesome!  SSS is an awesome awesome album.  Pygmalion is pretty good too.  Do a search for Blue Skies and Cleared.  Killer tune.
Check out Spiritualized, they are a better version of Slowdive.  Same style, but just......amazing

Yeah not all the bands I listed were hardcore.  At the Drive in, Modest Mouse, Ugly Cassanova, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, Slowdive, are all bands of the non hardcore sort.  I did say MOSTLY hardcore, but I should have made it more clear.

Mauti, don't listen to crappy American emopop like All American Rejects. They aren't punk!

I forgot to talk about hip hop before. Here's tha shizzle:

gangsta: 50 cent, biggie smalls, lil kim
fun: redman, missy
social justice: dead prez, the coup, mr lif
old school: rakim, nwa, public enemy

Also check out the label Def Jux, they are pretty much awesome all around for hip hop.

Charles Bronson has a band? isnt he that crappy actor from that huge 16 part movie series Death Wish, which sucks?

LOL I LOVE DEATH WISH!!
and yes, he is.

best scene EVER, in death wish2 when charlie is stalking these thugs in a church.

the thugs are talking, bronson is in the attic. he jumps down with a gun and assaults them, and right before he is about to shoot a guy standing underneath a cross, he says

"so ya like jesus, eh?"

then shoots him.

Hehe Tasty,

well at least it is some better teenage pop, at least this song. I'm generally listening to something different(see previous posts).

However two other great groups are Hooverphonic and Semisonic.

Hooverphonic: Mad about You, Out of sight, Sometimes and many more.
Semisonic: Secret Smile, Closing Time,...

@ Bronto: I don't like Rammstein very much, the lyrics are very weak and often don't make any sense. Well nevertheless I like some songs from them especially Links 2,3,4 because of the fantastic video.

Live concerts hmm all in all every mainstream artist plays live in Austria. Personal related: Last weekend played Zwan at a festival together with 8 other groups. 4 weeks ago Placebo played their last album(I like their old stuff more) and in august their will be a great festival with Travis, Placebo, Ash, Beck, Heather Nova,  Ceasars Palace, Blackmail and many more. This will be a great one at a race circuit.

Anyways, ICP is yea, pretty funny, especially the song 'Super Balls' , with the girl singers in it  :D But, with System Of A Down, I agree.. They're not that special and I dont know why people like them so much, but, I like it because its hard rock..
And, Crazy Town, they rock!! I dont know why people around gameranger dont like them, but, I like their style  ;D

I find most modern bands blow ass, New found Glory, Good Charlette or whowever u spell them... they all sound the same and try to be something they're not. System of a Down is actualy good when u compare to most bands that came out in the past 7 or so years. And ICP is crap.

Dick Dale / Stevie Ray Vaughn - California Sun
Dick Dale / Stevie Ray Vaughn - Pipeline

@ Bronto: I don't like Rammstein very much, the lyrics are very weak and often don't make any sense.

Well, im going to back you up on this one mauti. here's a translation of the song Buck Dich (bend down), cookie's favorite position....song:

Bend down, I command you
turn your face away from me
your face means nothing to me
bend down

A human on all fours
I take him on a walk
ambling along the corridor
I am disappointed

Now he comes backwards towards me
Honey stays stuck on the garter
I am disappointed, totally disappointed

Bend down
your face doesn't interest me

The human has bent down
and moved into a good light
I show him what you can do
and I start to cry

The human stammers a prayer
out of fear because it goes worse for me
he tries to bend down even more
tears run up the back

Bend down

Bend down, I command you
turn your face away from me
your face means nothing to me
bend down once more

Bend down

But these lyrics don't mean too much to me, since Till sings in german, i dont understand. sounds cool though :-D. (that was poseur of me to say) I'm sad to admit that mauti (my internet idol) have very different taste in music.

Serpico, stevie ray vaughn is damn good, but three guitarists modern guitarists who blow him out of the water are: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Erik Johnson (together they do the G3 concert, good DVD). my favorite of those three is steve vai, because his style is more space age and trippy then satriani, but satriani is definately the best of them. my song recommendation is Steve Vai - Tender Surrender. starts off kindof like supermarket music, but when he busts out the distortion, you'll shizat your hanes.

Hehe Bronto, many guys have a different music taste than I.

Simply because they have never heard about the bands I'm listening to(so they aren't used to it), second indie pop/rock(Pixies, Athletes, Hot hot heat) and especially british indie pop can be very bizarre(Ash, Beck and even Pulp) and last but not least it has mostly nothing in common with "classical" rock.

However this music makes me happy and reflects my way/view of life.
