Title: Chimera - the best browser yet Post by: Jeb on September 26, 2002, 07:35:33 pm I've been using Netscape 7 for a few weeks and i've been loving it.
This morning i downloaded Chimera, and i must say its is great. it only works in OsX (or so i think) the Page rendering is so remarkably fast, it feels like i'm using a PC for web browsing. I timed the apple homepage to load on my ADSL and it took 2 seconds. the entire page layout was complete almost instantly the rest of the time was graphics being downloaded. Its still a early beta version and has a long way to go, like managable passwords and cookie management. Admittedly it isn't polished yet, but it is a beta after all. I'll have to give Chimera a serious run-through.
Edit: OMG WTF BBQ booyah. Chimera lets me set it so that web pages requested by other applications (i.e. clicking on a link in GR) opens up in a new tab, not a new window. Score. Chimera is good because it takes everything that netscape has (built in aim, icq and email app) and simplifies it. Anyone who uses Jaguar should download this browser. it kicks the shit out of internet explorer, and is has the more speed, and the features that netscape is missing.
