Title: My iMac is broken, ERROR, HELP!
Post by: P?T.Computer.broke on September 18, 2002, 10:00:51 pm
OK, i am on my mom's iBook right now due to an error in Jaguar... when it starts up it stalls for about 2 - 3 minutes then comes up with sh-.2.05a#. I have no idea what it was and typed in stuff from login (asked for password/name), logout, and i tried to start it up on a cd. nothing. Well, I guess i won't be doing much of anything unless any of you have experience in this matter... only good that could come of it is a DP 867 G4.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/banana.gif) but not for a while, so suggestions would be very helpful.

amount of ram in the system and any peripherals that may be connected would be of use, as well as any programs that you installed shortly before the problem occured.

Odd. If you are able to boot from a CD, I would try and do a clean install the OS X system (you can do this without wiping your files now). If you are unable to even boot from a CD, what does the screen show when you try to do this? Is it a folder with a blinking question mark?

OK, it's a 450 imac 192 stinking ram. no ace i cant boot from cd, it doesn't let me do anyting. one reason may be because the computer is native os 9 of course and all the cds to help would not be of use in jaguar. second reason is it just doesn't do a thing when i hold down "c" from the mac os x disc and then i tried from the jaguar disc.

Do you have AIM or are you on GameRanger right now? This would be a lot easier to try and help you out with chatting rather than trading messages on the forum. I'm (SEALs) Ace on GR and MalleusEBHC on AIM. If you want to use Macclans chat I can go there too.

Ace, i have run disk first aid multiple times and tried to reinstall multiple times also. I always get a message saying that something can't be updated about half way through. what is up with it? should i try the restore disk instead?

Title: Goto www.apple.com for HELP!

The best advice I can give you is to post not here, but on the www.apple.com help forums.  They are so quick to help you and there's every problem that's ever happened on a mac posted there.  You should be able to fine a thread on your problem in no time.  Go do that, rather than waste time here hoping for an answer.

Peace and Good Luck.
