Title: Baseball Strike looms large Post by: Typhy on August 26, 2002, 06:28:37 am Just want to get everyones thoughts on the potential MLB Strike, personaly, at first I thought that it was very unlikely, but considering how near it is at this point, I think that there is a very good chance of it. Anyone who hasn't heard much about this, I don't feel like posting what all is going on, you can all find more information at: www.mlb.com/. Normaly, I am pretty "Anti owners" in terms on some of the things that the owners stand for on issues, but on this, I'd have to agree with them.
Do you think that there will be a work stopage ( Strike )? Title: Re:Baseball Strike looms large Post by: 5 1 5 0 on August 26, 2002, 06:31:04 am I think there will be a strike, but im not really a base ball fan. Im more into the full contact sports. butt i use to play base ball so i know the game. but yes i think there will be a strike.

The players are too damn greedy and should be lined up outback and shot. I hope there is no strike because I want to hold it over Ace's head that the Dodgers made the playoffs and the Giants blow. First, it's on the first day of school, and if that's not bad enough, it's the last day that any games will be played. (yes the strike is going to happen)
Title: Re:Baseball Strike looms large Post by: Mattster on August 26, 2002, 04:58:03 pm Baseball Players are idiots, They only care about themselvs, There will be a strike.
Title: Re:Baseball Strike looms large Post by: Typhy on August 26, 2002, 09:15:41 pm Yes, now that I think about it, I probally should have made this a poll. I agree with Sin that the players are greedy, but try and consider this: Would there be a strike if the owners would agree not to create a system of their own durring the offseason? The reason the players feel that they need to strike, is because durring the season is when they have power over the owners.
Title: Re:Baseball Strike looms large Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on August 26, 2002, 09:21:46 pm If they waited until the offseason, they wouldnt speak again until spring training. Inbetween that time would be the Winter meetings and additional free agent signings so it would just compound the present situation even worse.
The players are just trying to protect teams like the New York Yankees so their damn payrolls keep increasing. I'm sorry, but baseball is fucked up right now witht he New York Mercenaries vs. the rest of the MLB. Title: Re:Baseball Strike looms large Post by: Typhy on August 26, 2002, 09:27:28 pm I agree that stuff needs to change, I just wish that there as an alternitive way to change it rather than a strike.
Title: Re:Baseball Strike looms large Post by: [d]-[p a t] on August 26, 2002, 10:08:34 pm I always thought strikes were a little counter productive for the players... by not playing, no more money is coming in to pay their "little" salaries. Guess the owners get fucked too but o well...
