Title: IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY STUFF RELATING TO THIS THREAD THEN REPLY!!!!!!! Post by: Supernatural Pie on August 21, 2002, 06:40:48 pm I need some help. I have airport and need to figure out how to host. I've tried hosting with gameranger, with no luck. So i've stooped to using Rogue Spear's "create a game" method. But now I just need to figure out how to configure my airport admin utility. I was using apple's page of airport gaming, but unfortunately I didn't understand all of it. http://www.apple.com/enews/2001/features/airportgaming2.html
Can someone help me with exactly how to put in public port numbers, private ports, ip's, what the ports are, what ip, and anything else that I need to know to be able to host rogue spear games. There may be a ????REWARD???? for anyone who can get me hosting rogue spear across the internet with my airport!!!!!! Post by: Supernatural Pie on August 21, 2002, 07:16:37 pm Bondo, the link of hosting with airport is at the official apple site. I don't think someone put together a page of bs just for the fun of it. I'm determined to host, and I know it's possible

Or is the airport hooked up to a router. From reading that article it sounds pretty straight forward on how to open ports in the airport.
Title: Re:IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY STUFF RELATING TO THIS THREAD THEN REPLY!!!!!! Post by: Supernatural Pie on August 21, 2002, 11:24:42 pm My setup is simple really. My entire family is set up this way: 2 imacs, 1 powerbook, 1 titanium. All have airport cards and use airport. I have a cable modem plugged into the airport basestation, and the basestation sends out the cable access to all of the computers through airport. I have nothing besides that, although airport acts as a firewall as the article said. That's my internet setup.

Post by: ?(uNt?YodaTi.Hfa on August 22, 2002, 02:04:25 am Snipe your in luck. My setup was actually the exact same (before my cable modem blew up, literally). Here's what you do, go into the TCP/IP control panel. Change the way you connect from Airport to Ethernet (built in or othrewise.) Disconnect the ethernet cable attached to the Airport and put that into your ethernet slot. The other computers won't be able to connect but you will be able to host.

What part of the set up are you having difficulty with? Title: Re:IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY STUFF RELATING TO THIS THREAD THEN REPLY!!!!!! Post by: xoclipse1 on August 22, 2002, 02:26:09 am sorry, but we have established that you are not able to host via airport, mb someday when Apple incorporates DMZ host into there airport admin utility, you will be able to host, but we have tried port forwarding the port 15000(which is the port of which gr hosts rs on) and had minimal success, only 1 person was able to connect, probably because DMZ is necessary for it to work.
sorry bud ps. or you could do what yoda said and manually connect to your internet via your modem directly. Title: Re:IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY STUFF RELATING TO THIS THREAD THEN REPLY!!!!!! Post by: |MP|Buccaneer on August 22, 2002, 04:43:54 am You can now host RS over airport. With the latest updates to airport, it has been working (we've done it).
The down side, if you have more then one computer on the airport, it wont be able to even play RS unless you change the settings back. Just pm me and I'll walk you through it. Title: Re:IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY STUFF RELATING TO THIS THREAD THEN REPLY!!!!!! Post by: Supernatural Pie on August 22, 2002, 04:24:46 pm Bucc i'd really appreciate any help you could give me. What time do you think you'll be on GameRanger so we can talk?
