Title: Official BL map pack
Post by: *DAMN Mauti on August 20, 2002, 02:36:09 pm
Please make your suggestion which maps should be added to the BL map pack. Please have in mind that the map pack should be at max 15 - 20MB large.

Maps that are already included:
City Street Small (CQC)
Watcher's Wood (Sniping)
Stronghold 1-1(CQC, Midrange sniping)
Materials Storage (CQC, Ambush) (from Umberhulk 2 Mod)

Other cool maps that may be added
Hunter's CS Assault (Midrange combat & sniping)
MOUT (Huge City Terrain - All)
Yukon Armory (All) (from Umberhulk 2 Mod)
Library Front & Back (CQC, Sniping, Ambush) (from Umberhulk 2 Mod)
Chemical Plant (Combat) (from Umberhulk 2 Mod)
Train Yard (midrange sniping, ambush) (from Umberhulk 2 Mod)

As you can see I have included many maps of the Umberhulk 2 Mod which are really fantastic and allow many different tactics - may also some maps from the BHD Mod make it to the map pack. Always keep in mind that the map pack should be at max 15 - 20MB large. Please leave your map suggestions here. There are so many great maps like Italy, Fortress, and many others.

I think you should have some maps from the DDAY mod. I forget the names but the one where there is a factory and a tunnel you have to get out of. I will get back to you with the name when I get back to America.

I'd like to point out that a lot of mod maps can be very laggy. VEEEERRRRY laggy. This would only lead to more arguments and whining and complaining. But whatever. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/hm.gif)

I ruefuse to put mods on my RS because it fucking slows down everything. If we "have" to play with the map pack next season... I just won't play.

Mods have fucked up my game in the past, and after about 5 re-installs I refuse to do it anymore. It has nothing to do with cheating, which I don't do

LIES ULT    (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/ukliam2.gif)

Depends on the map, like the mount map, that one is just horrible on my machine. it's so choppy. but the umberbulk maps are good and run smooth. I think we should only use maps that are tested and from a know mod maker. like  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/hm.gif) lets say, ummm.... grave digga and cocobola....  or however you spell it  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/icon_bluh.gif)

well I'll chose the maps with a constant framerate. About the Mout I know it runs slow so it was only a MAYBE. Ultimo one mod pack doesn't screw anything I have 160+ mods installed and it never screwed my RS also one mod pack doesn't slow down your starting times. It is a forced map pack so you must have installed it to join other games.

May you had bad experiences with mods in the past but at all your statements are only prejudices about mods. Free your mind for something new!  ;)

I might decide to do the same as ulti and not join a clan for the next season if this happens cause i think our current maps provide plenty of tactics and stuff...but if u do make a map pack, include the met plz

ok, a long list of maps:
fortress : good sniper/rushing map both sides are somewhat symmetrical so its not really one sided and u can lauch surprise rushes either by going in tunnels or by rushing above the groud or u can snipe by any of the towers there are. but its pretty large (the map).
mall: lotsa sniping places and it looks like a real mall losta camping spots also but its also pretty large (the map is not the file size).
matrix: small map, good for cqcs.
arizona mesa snipe: ive never actually played this one but the description makes it sound that u cant rush so its techinically a sniping map, it'll be cool to check this out.
X3 killhouse: just like killhouse but lotsa doors and rooms you could get lost here.
st6: good sniping map pretty large you cant really rush because it will take u too long.
and then there's another map its big theres a lot of sniping going on but i forget the name of it, its either wilderness or watchers wood i think its watchers wood....

mauti.....i believe u know what im talkign about. We may need to make our own maps, and prevent glitches in modded maps, im sure there is many, its just time before some find 1 lousy glitch on one lousy map, and that team will make it higher and higher in BL, and all of us would not know it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/hm.gif) this is the trouble..............aw nvm, take our the part that say make our own maps, that would be gay.

i think that the aztec map from mtr3 should be looked at.
it is very large and good for sniping, but a few of the starting spots force you into cqb
also the ardinnes forrest and siberian base 3 maps are good and should be considered(both from mtr3)

well the first multi-player game i played when i was a noob was "paps mountain base" and it should be considered for the pack

Another map that would just be cool is Trenchs from MTR3. Very nice map.

i'll throw my wote in again MOUT.. great map, it's huge and all, but it's alittle too big. Gets really boring sometimes.

I'll also vote against Fortress... too many glitches.

All I can say is there are to many glitches in RS period. It seems everyday someone finds a new one or shows me an old trick with one. People use these glitches to their advantage all the time and Im sure they do in the BL as well, so to say their are to many glitches in certain mods is a worthless argument. Rogue Spear is FULL of them, ppl like ult dont want a map pack becuz they dont have all those maps memorized and would get toasted on them, every poor sport has an excuse.

I personally love mods, without them I would have given up this game a long time ago. It would get so boring....now come on Lungbutter lets get that BHD mod out!..

MOUT is an awesome map, but it is way to big. If it were moded so that a boundry was made between the sections, then it could be used with quite alot of sucess. ST6 is the ultimate wating game, it is basiclly wait till they move so you can see them; big sniper map might be fun for large CBs. matrix is too small, it will most certainly lag with more than a few people playing it. Fortress, awesome all-around map, should definatly be considered, tactics are key for this map. Also what about considering some of the ported r6 maps like road or big ben those are great and fun too, it might be worth looking into those.

I think we should get some BHD maps in the map pack. Most of them have very unbiased inserts, and they have places for sniping, assault, cqb, and demolitions. Very good maps.

So this is gonna be required for each clan battle next season?
Quite a few of the maps you listed contain tons of exploitable glitches.
and kilzo, the so called "leets" of rs could give a shit about mods. Who has the modded maps memorized? How often is a game hosted on GR for MOUT, or any other mod (other than CS2, watchers, and BHD).

WEll whatever, i guess its gonna be in the bl next season no matter what, and i'm suprized no one has mentioned CSL2 & 3. those were pretty cool from way back when.

Post by: *DAMN Mauti on September 27, 2002, 11:17:35 am
Yes you would have to activate the mod for every clanbattle however I hope since the BL has many members that you let the map pack activated so after 2 weeks everybody on GR has it.Well that's only a hope. MOUT is to large for the map pack I'll chose smaller maps(except watchers wood) for the cb also about the glitches where the hell comes this fear every original RS map has tons of glitches contrary recently done mod maps  are more stable and run perfectly.
The map pack will be full compatible to all other mods so you can run CS2,BHD next to it.

First I wanted to add some BHD maps however I am not sure about this anymore because they all belong together.

I'll think about CSL2&3 however you have to know that Stronghold1.1 and City Street Small are in the map pack so we already have 2 CSLlike maps.

Jeb it doesn't play a role how memorized you have the maps after you have played them a few times you know them same was when RS came out.

Bye,

Mauti
