Title: for you Ghost Recon lovers Post by: z][t-Rampage on July 21, 2008, 10:42:51 pm Hey all
i didnt see a post about this game here and i figured i'd post some news. some great people have gotten together to create a game called Ground Branch and it looks like they might just pull off what we missed when GHR became soup and shit w the graw series. "BlackFoot Studios — also known as BFS — was founded in 2004 by John Sonedecker. Known throughout the tactical combat industry as the visionary lead level designer for such groundbreaking games as Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six, Sonedecker brings years of experience in designing several of the gaming industry's most successful franchises. With an impressive resume including lead roles with Red Storm Entertainment and BattleBorne Entertainment, John provides BlackFoot Studios with a solid backbone of developmental knowledge and experience, and most importantly, his unique vision." www.blackfootstudios.com you have to register to access the members sub forums. there are some nice articles and info about things in there too. here is an interview with the guy behind it http://grupo97.halconesrojos.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=209&Itemid=28 enjoy :) ::applause:: Title: Re: for you Ghost Recon lovers Post by: Monoman on July 22, 2008, 10:58:32 am Some of the people that work for BFS were GhR modders. They have had alot of interaction with the GhR community since they were created.

All that drama and adrenaline, good times. Just seems a bit discouraging that the company was set up in 2004 and only now are they beginning to talk about making a game? Anyway let's hope for the best and let's hope that on the spectrum of GHR and R6, the game leans towards GhR. ;) Thanks Rampage! Long time no see btw ;-) but I think the difference is that in the end all these "new" tactical shooters are far away from the games we loved to play. They just don't have the budget as e.g. Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear or Ghost Recon. Nowadays companys focus on mainstream. Nothing at the posted trailer really stands out. I really liked to play BFBC2 because team work, although not one hit one kill, mattered. Right now our desires are just a niche target market. We are too less to justify big budgets and all great AAA studios like Red Storm was at its time have been bought and somehow destroyed. Almost no game comes out that fits to a small target group like we are. It's sad. If I wouldn't be busy working on social brand games, which is really fun, I think together with e.g. Cocobolo Ops, we could make a great FPS. To save development time we could use the Unity 3D Engine. I have very little spare time, and so far I just work on concepts on productivity apps and some social games. I hope that the new Ghost Recon Commander, a social game, might be a cool game for inbetween. I also have some ideas for some tactical 2D/isometric shooters that could be fun, but of course these games and ideas are far away from GhR or R6. But pls keep me and us uptodate. I still love shooters and if my Mac could run BF3 I would play it in Bootcamp. Bye and I hope you are doing fine, let me know what you are doing. Greetings, Mauti Title: Re: for you Ghost Recon lovers Post by: BTs_Mysterio on June 21, 2012, 07:33:34 pm I was just reading some gaming news a few days ago and saw that the developer started a Kickstarter for this game. It doesn't look like it's going to reach it's goal, but here's a link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/670743543/ground-branch
A lot of the material to look very interesting. It would be nice to see this project get to the market, especially since they announced Mac support at launch (if it makes it). I'm hoping they find a way to get funded, whether the Kickstarter reaches its goal or not. I played Battlefield 3 for a few weeks earlier this year and found it enjoyable, but I really missed some elements of the earlier R6 series. Beyond the obvious differences that go along with a respawn system, I just didn't find the playing experience to be very intense. BF3 is certainly exciting and fun (and I'll continue to play it), but there's nothing in it that's like being the last person left of your team hobbling around trying to salvage a round in Rogue Spear. Many newer games are just a flatter experience. To Mauti's point above, I'm not so sure that games in this genre need the AAA-level budgets and attention. Real tactical shooters are definitely a niche, but the niche doesn't demand the level of graphics that Unreal Engine 4 will be delivering. If I recall correctly, Rogue Spear (or Ghost Recon) were not cutting edge graphics at the time. Likewise, they didn't pack in tons of gameplay innovations. They were just solid games that were developed with a very coherent, well implemented vision. Maybe I'm just not playing the right games these days, but I find this Ground Branch project really exciting. I hope they stick to their vision. Don't know if anyones been paying attention to this but the makers of this game have been making some progress. Looks like they have continued working on it even though the KickStarter wasn't a success.

Title: Re: for you Ghost Recon lovers Post by: *DAMN Mauti on June 16, 2020, 08:41:09 pm Although another seven years later the game is still nowhere near ready, the team of four seems to be persistent in pursuing their vision ::rambo::. I'm not sure if this is still passionate or just crazy.
