Title: Remote disk? How to use remote cds with your current Macs! Post by: *DAMN Mauti on January 16, 2008, 12:28:26 am It seems nobody noticed it yet, but remote disk, is not really a new feature. Also current Macs under Tiger can do it. Just select "Network", connect to a Mac that has enabled personal file sharing, and mount the inserted disk. I just used this today when I installed Filemaker at an office with a broken cddrive. I inserted the disk at a Mac Mini and accessed it within the LAN through file sharing.
Remote disk may be more elegant but it's not really new. Bye, Mauti Title: Re: Remote disk? How to use remote cds with your current Macs! Post by: BFG on January 18, 2008, 09:38:19 pm Yep its nothing more than bonjour disk image sharing. Not new technology just neatly implemented :)

Post by: BTs_Mysterio on January 18, 2008, 09:48:48 pm I've used networking like this for so long along with Remote Desktop because I'm so bad at just sitting at a desk doing work. I don't get why a lot of forum go-ers elsewhere were so angry about Apple including this as a big thing though. Do they really believe the average buyer could configure their own remote discs? Well, they could, but this certainly makes it more obvious for them without making them have to learn on their own.
