Title: Speaker Question Post by: *DAMN Hazard on August 27, 2006, 06:55:43 pm I'm not really satisfied with the speakers on my 17" iMac(the ones before the intel) and I was wondering if anybody could reccommend any good speaker systems that will also be compatible with my macbook pro when I upgrade to that.
Thx for any help. Haz Title: Re: Speaker Question Post by: th.Sentinel on August 27, 2006, 09:50:26 pm I just bought the Logitech Z5500 speakers, it has an optical input which works great with my G5.
And they are THX certified, so the quality is pretty good I think. The 2 small satellites are incredibly clear and LOUD! and the subworfer very powerful.
It also has a neat feature with audio in & out with touch sensitive audio mute. Title: Re: Speaker Question Post by: :MoD:Shade on August 29, 2006, 04:14:07 am How much are you willing to spend?
Do you want surround sound, or do you simply not have the space for it? There are just so many speakers out there, I personally think it's hard to say that one certain kind dominates over the others. There are good companies like Klipsch, Altec Lansing, Logitech that have great speakers. I also think that Bose, though they have amazing sound quality alot of times you spend alot more money simply for the name. It's like buying Advil when you can get the same no-name brand acetemenophin that has the exact same ingredients so to speak and works the same. I also prefer using headphones over speakers because I feel I can hear sounds better since they are right there in my ears, but then again that's just me and this is a topic about speakers so disregard that ;). http://www.alteclansing.com/product_cat_stereo.asp?region=northam http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=103 Title: Re: Speaker Question Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on August 29, 2006, 04:27:18 am It's like buying Advil when you can get the same no-name brand acetemenophin that has the exact same ingredients so to speak and works the same. Yeah, except that Advil is Ibuprofen, not Acetaminophen.[/size] ;) Title: Re: Speaker Question Post by: *DAMN Hazard on August 29, 2006, 11:54:54 pm I'm a poor college student im only lookin to spend a 100 bucks here
Title: Re: Speaker Question Post by: BTs_FahQ2 on August 30, 2006, 12:32:19 am I have the JBL creature speakers, under $100 and sound great
they are on level with the Harmon soundsticks, but if you shop around, you can get them for about $50 less (http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B0006U6GH0.01._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_V57174588_.jpg) Title: Re: Speaker Question Post by: BFG on August 30, 2006, 09:43:31 am yeah get the JBL creature speakers mate, my lil brother has a pair and they do just the job - and considering hte price i really think you get a decent sound (the neighbours might not appreciate the bass ;) )
I've just bought a pair of Sure E2C Earphones... should be arriving today i can't wait to see how they shape up! :) Title: Re: Speaker Question Post by: :MoD:Shade on August 31, 2006, 04:01:58 pm You'll love the Shure headphones, I got the the E3C's and they're amazing.
The only thing I can say is be patient because at first your going to think they suck and have no bass but that is only because you don't have them in right. The only thing I can say to help is when you put them in, you know you have them in if everything gets muffeled, you seriously cannot hear external sounds when these babies are in. I'm too scared to play games with them because I'm afraid some loud nooise will make me deaf. My dad just got the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers last night and wow, they are great, music and DVD quality are amazing. I'm really happy.... whether my fellow residents are too has yet to be seen.
