*DAMN SheepIcon [*DBL Rules Updated] - [14.9.2005 ; 5:41 pm by *DAMN Mauti] - [0] - *DAMN CommentIcon
The *DBL Rules have been updated to *DBL Rules 3.8(6) and *DBL FAQ(2).

It contains better wordings and a few FAQ items have been added.

Last but not least you should go throught the generell RvS rules again, especially the paragraph about ties!

One question I also have added to the FAQ items is that you have to play the complete required cb length, even if you know that you have already won the cb! That's very important.

Why!? - Read I.7 *DAMN Elo System and the FAQ.
*DAMN SheepIcon [*DBL Advanced Ladders] - [14.9.2005 ; 2:36 pm by *DAMN Mauti] - [0] - *DAMN CommentIcon
Today I wanna explain you the Advanced ladders a little bit.

Since already season 3 or so, a few people asked for a full scheduled ladder. However we turned down it in the past and still think a complete scheduled ladder goes too much away from the have fun while playing aspect.

However one good point of a scheduled ladder is that you could use a 3 - 1 - 0 system, where you don't have to fear to lose some points. Yes, actually there are quite a few clans that prefer to avoid losing some points instead of having fun and playing. It's a bit ironical but what shall we do. The last 2 seasons I invented the sheep system to avoid this, but unfortunaly once again I was fooled by some clans and players, that were more interested to misuse a system instead of playing so the sheep point system is history.

Oh well, so for Season XI we are going to stay with an ELO system and an unscheduled 3 - 1 - 0 system. The problem is that if you don't schedule a 3 - 1 - 0 system the mass of played cbs often decides who is the winner, which is in my opinion not right.

So instead of making a serious and complictated schedule system we limited the amount of cbs you can play vs. the same clan: you can at all play twice vs. the same opponent. This should allow us to keep the amount of played cbs in balance. Of course some clans may play a few more, but they can't just win by the amount of played cbs.

So what can you lose? - Nothing, just play, either you go home with 0 points and new experience, 1 point or full 3 points for a win. So at all you can just win - win fun, and enjoy having an exciting cb!

In the future - the advanced and team ladders will be merged: and we will have 2 scorings in one ladder: while you can play vs. the same clan in the team ladder 8 times, your advanced ladder will stop updating once you have crossed the 2times limit.

So is the advanced ladder better than the team ladder, which uses the new *DAMN Elo system!? - No, it's just an question of taste. However we would like to ask you to register for both ladders and try them out and tell as after the season what you liked and disliked.

May someone of you have expected more like certain limits, etc... we didn't add any special requirements because we wanted to keep it simple and accessable for everyone.

Last but not least you should just have fun playing and we wish you a great season XI.

Good luck,

*DAMN Mauti in the name of the *DBL administration
*Information* - the ladder still show sheep and sheep classes: this should be removed until the season starts.
*DAMN SheepIcon [*DBL Rules 3.8 now online] - [13.9.2005 ; 4:06 pm by *DAMN Mauti] - [0] - *DAMN CommentIcon
Hi,

the latest *DBL Rules are now online. The rules contain 3 files:

*DBL Rules 3.8(4)
*DBL Tournaments, Schedule, Cheattests(GhR)(1)
*DBL FAQ (1)

Every player should at least read through the files once. The *DBL Rulebook also explains the different ladders and scoring systems.

Compared to previous rules, the current version has been drastically reduced in space and also the structure has been completely redone for a better overview.

3 days until the season XI starts, so spread the word about it, and if you didn't notice it you can already add your clan to the ladders.
*DAMN SheepIcon [Season XI: starting next week] - [9.9.2005 ; 5:50 pm by *DAMN Mauti] - [0] - *DAMN CommentIcon
The *DAMN Battle League Season XI will start coming friday the 16th september 2005.

Season XI will last 6 weeks until 28th october 2005. Season XII will start approximately 2 - 3 weeks later.

Season XI will feature the following ladders:

Ghost Recon:
- FFA
- CQB
- Team
- Advanced
Battlefield 1942
Close Combat - First to Fight
Raven Shield:
- FFA
- CTE
- Team
- Advanced

The rules that explain the different ladders, are currently reviewed by the admin team and will be posted shortly here.

However one word about the Advanced ladders. The advanced ladders will feature an old fashioned 3 - 1 - 0 (win - tie - loss) scoring. The Advanced ladders are a kind of test ladder. We want to see if a 3 - 1 - 0 with a 2cbs vs. the same clan limitation can work out without scheduling any cbs. Due the character of being a "test ladder" you will be able to double submit all cbs from the Team ladders also in the Advanced ladder until you have reached the cb limit. We think that with such a small cb limit, we don't need a schedule to keep the amount of played cbs balanced. We also hope that clans are motivated to cb as much as possible, because you can't lose any points.

All other ladders will be scored by a *DAMN modified ELO system.

We broke up with the Sheep systems, because it seems it was too complicated and was often misused in a way that would require a lot of additional rules. So we went back to an ELO system.

For Ghost Recon the final release of the *DAMN BL Map pack will be available shortly at our Mac Downloads for public testing and the final version should be available just in time.

If you haven't seen it already on the *DAMN main page:

Here is the update regarding Season XI:

We have had 4 admin teams working around the clock to get things up and running so we can start Season XI.

Team 1 consists of Spike, Brutha, and Vickedson. They have been working on fixing everything related to Raven Shield.

Team 2 consists of Red Tigah, Mr. T, and BFG. They have been working on the totally reworked *DBL Map Pack 3.0; including fixing bugs, changing spawn points, adding new maps, making changes to weapons, etc.

Team 3 consists of GhostSniper. I have been rewriting the complete *DBL Rules; including fixing grammar & spelling errors, trying to make the rules easier to understand, adding and deleting sections, redesigning the rule structure, and trying to reduce the number of pages in the rules.

Team 4 consists of Civic. He has been working on everything related to a new First to Fight ladder.

The members of each of these teams are also helping each of the other teams with ideas and suggestions to make everything go faster.

We are all very close to completing our tasks. In the coming days the community may see public votes so that you can decide things to help us out (like which maps to add to the map pack, etc). Please help us out and vote so that we can do what is best for the community.

All in all, things are coming along very quickly, and Season XI will be here before you know it.
