After some furious discussions in the BL forum season 5 ended with [ ! ],Core, being the winner of the Ghost Recon Competition ladder followed by runner up SL as a consequence of c| withdrawing in the final final round. Congratulations to the Core guys, who put all their efforts into the competition ladder, for showing a great team performance throughout the season.
The Ghost Recon Competition ladder was the only ladder with Finals being played. The RS ladder suffered again less activity and so Finals weren't played. Time goes on but Raven Shield is near release. ACE won the RS ladder by combat points, followed by runner up RnT, and DaF finished as 3rd. (Attention I just had to remove the last Ace - DaF cb because both already played each other 4times.)
About the fun GR-Siege and GR CQB ladders: 3 clans totally owned these ladders, by name BTs, c| and SL.
BTs won both ladders. c| ranked 2nd in the Siege and 3rd in the CQB ladder and SL vice versa.
Over 500cbs were played in season 5 that are 100+ more than in season 4 in only half the time(the season length was reduced from 90days to 50days this season). Again over 30 clans participated actively on the different ladders. BTs sets a new Most-cbs-played per season record to incredible 145cbs played. The former record was 63cbs/season achieved by DEA in season 3.
Congratulations to all clans that participated in the BL and I hope you all had fun beside the few issues we experienced throughout the season. I think all in all season 5 was a success. One reason for the success being the change to the Combat Point System. Although most still doesn't understand it completly it allowed the clans to concentrate full on cbs instead of thinking how to gather an tactical advantage by using flaws in the algorithm. There are still some minor bugs in the script left but nothing you have to worry about.
The *DAMN winner icon will be sent to Core soon. About the fun ladders: the admins and I are currently discussing if it would be useful to also have icons for the winners of the fun ladders or if it would take too much away from the "non-serious-gaming-fun" aspect.
Season 6: start is this sunday the 23rd November. The end of the main season is 2nd january 2004 with the finals being played on 2 weekends(3.1.2004/4.1.2004 and 10.1.2004/11.1.2004).
The bad news first: I told you that season 6 will feature 1vs1 and FFA ladders unfortunaly due university and work Elandrion and I are unable to add those yet. During christmas vacations we should be able to add them but not earlier so you have to wait still few weeks.
The good news: season 6 will feature an America's Army ladder administrated mainly by Rebel and Typhy. As soon as AA version 2.0 is out you will also find AA at our Mac Downloads and more. The rules are currently discussed at the BL forum. So you may want to throw in your 2cent. Now is the time.
The CombatPoints will also be slightly modified so if you battle an unranked clan(a clan that never played a game in the running season) both sides can only earn 50points.
Finals will be only for the top4 clans in the main season.
Beside that, a complete reworded and updated version of the BL rules will be uploaded on saturday.
Few additions and rules will be discussed in the BL forums until saturday so may you want to post your suggestions if you aren't satisfied with some points. One thing that will definitive come is a complete new rule about forfeit wins and about how glitches will be counted but more soon at the BL forum where I gonna open some threads.
Last but not least will the RS ladder changed to a fun ladder due the small active crowd and for all GR ladders I gonna have a small surprise that will add some new challenges.
About Warzone 2.0 with integrated timer: WZ 2.0 is currently at beta stage and it will be added once it reaches final status.
That's it.
Congratulations and thanks again to all active clans for participating. See ya next season,
