[You can now switch off your Mac] - [24.1.2004; 12:40:PM by *DAMN Mauti] - [0]
  • On christmas 1995 I got my first computer ever[if you don't count Tric&Tronics(<1988),my Gameboy(1989) and Playstation(also 1995)] - a Mac Classic II with 4MB RAM(upgraded),a 25MB large harddisk, a 9' black and white screen and system version 7.1. It offered everything I needed for school: Word 5.1a, Tetris and hmmm that's it ;). At this time the Mac was already very old(built 1991) but nonetheless it worked great to write some papers and keep my diary up to date. I still own this Mac and it has already a resell value of 1000US Dollar and increasing among collectors. The Mac boots as fast as my iMac does. The keyboard and mouse is plugged to the Mac via an S-VHS cable, I also use for my VHS recorder from time to time. Word has only reasonable functions and isn't totally overloaded with thousands of submenus, to sum it up a Word you can really USE!!!. The best thing on my beloved Mac is if you switch it off a message appears on the screen: "You can now switch off your Mac". Well, I still saw this on my Mom's LC.

The reason why I'm telling you all this: Today 20 years ago, as every Mac user knows, Apple introduced the Macintosh and we still see why 1984 wasn't like 1984.

Back in 1995 I chose to think different and I'm still a crazy mofo and so I want to wish Apple good luck for the next 20years and goddammit release speedbumped G5s now!!!! I want one, and with the generous help of *DAMN supporters including our latest *DAMN supporter |GM| GhostSniper I'm a huge step closer to upgrade my Mac lineup as you can see on the *DAMN Supporter 2004 status page. If you have some Euro/US Dollar left somewhere... You know what to do =P I'll be back to kick your RvS ass soon. Time is running so better hide somewhere ;)

    Regards,

    *DAMN Mauti
ps: on 29th I have my last test for this term and then I gonna announce the new admins for Battle League season VII, answer most pms and upload the latest mods.
[Status report] - [19.1.2004; 10:30:PM by *DAMN Mauti] - [0]
  • Hi,

the last 2 weeks of my winter term have begun. This means that I'll have all my difficult exams right now until the 31st january and as a consequence I'll be hardly online.

However I hope to get the WoW and Unreal Recon Ghost Recon mods done until sunday or monday.

If you are still unsure to buy Raven Shield or not, visit InsideMacGames and read their R63:RS review.

Big thanks to Dutchman for becoming a *DAMN Supporter. Because I get it asked again and again, every donation helps. From 1 Euro to 1 million Euro ;). It's the sum of all donations which helps me, not one donation alone. So instead of buying the next six pack beer, bottle of vodka and the newest Hustler you could drink Coke and watch our *DAMN desktops(Arts & Screenshots) for one weekend . The saved money would be a great donation =). Thank you.

    Regards,

    Mauti
[RvS Speedball Tournament] - [16.1.2004; 10:13:AM by *DAMN Mauti] - [1]
  • Thanks to John and Buccaneer for becoming a *DAMN Supporter 2004. The G5 status pic has already been updated. Thanks a bunch guys.

Mainman sent me an email about what seems to be a fun Raven Shield competition:

"A SpeedBall tournament has been set up by Raven Shield enthusiasts. If any of you ever played "Speedball" the Raven Shield Map your gonna know what this is off the bat. Its a paintball arena style 3v3 tournament. Total kills wins the match. Rules and Regulations (as well as the mod) is located @ http://speedball.cjb.net+ a href="http://sparkmods.cjb.net" target="_blank">http://sparkmods.cjb.net (mods).
Some unique things that we added was the intramural groups. Meaning regardless of you clan status you can still forum your own 3 man team. If you love close quarter battles this is your thing. As well as kit restrictions that limits the style of play (i.e. no frags/hbs/claymores). Im not the best at it and I'm usually dead 15 sec's later. If your a beloved ghr player, i do not recommend this league. May be waaaaay to fast for ya."

Did he try to flame Ghost Recon players? If yes show him that he is wrong ;)

Our Battle League season 7 will start probably in the first week of february.

    Regards,

    Mauti
ps: I'm off to celebrate my birthday =)
[2003 stats roundup] - [15.1.2004; 1:20:PM by *DAMN Mauti] - [0]
  • If you are interested in stats here is a comparison of 2003 - with all previous years together(July 2000 - 2002):

    ------------------
Page Views 2003: 1.86million page views; app. 150 000 per month. Last 3 month of the year being over 210 000. A plus of 61percent.
    Unique Visitors: 115 000 in 2003.
Mac Downloads: 133 700; that's almost the same amount as in all previous years together.
    Files available: 472 files available(app. 4 GByte). A plus of 82percent.
Forum posts: Over 31 000 posts in 2100 threads were done in 2003. An average of 14 replies/thread.
Forum Members: 450 new members joined the forum in the year 2003, that's a plus of 83percent.
*DAMN Battle League: 1410 cbs were played in 2003. That's an average of 7cbs per season day compared to 3cbs per season week in 2002 or in other words a plus of 570(!) percent.
Since season 5 over 700 players registered at the Battle League. That's a plus of 330(!) percent and makes a total of 1068 registered Battle League players.
Highest Traffic per day: 1183 unique visitors and 27 213 page views
Used Browser: Already 67percent of all visitors are using another browser than Explorer. In 2002 the Explorer was still used by 58percent.
    ------------------

To sum up in the year 2003 *DAMN R6 is bigger than ever before. Only the number of unique visitors didn't grow and is very low. The summer months where I was almost 3 months away dumped the average because if you look at the downloads/file you will notice that we have an average of over 600user that download regulary mods. Another reason that we couldn't increase our unique visitors is because the userbase of Rogue Spear and Ghost Recon is partly the same and all in all the *DAMN RS userbase with app. 9000 player was much larger compared to app. 5500 GhR players. Attention this doesn't mean that GhR has less players on Mac than RS had. It just means that we had much more different RS players visiting *DAMN R6 from time to time compared to GhR players.

We will probably increase our userbase due the release of Raven Shield, which will reactivate many of the old RS userbase, the new G5s, that make Mac Gaming enjoyable again(speed bumped G5s will be presented next week and G5 iMac should also see the daylight in 2004), and the fact that now also clanless players have the possibility to play in the *DAMN Battle League. All these points will result in more visitors and even more activity in an active Battle League.

Last but not least I have updated our *DAMN support website. Thanks to Civic, Sophie and Anonymous#2 for their donations.

    Regards,

    *DAMN Mauti
[*DAMN Support Status...] - [14.1.2004; 11:52:PM by *DAMN Mauti] - [0]
  • Hi guys,

I just want to inform you that all requested *DAMN calendar have been shipped on monday and should arrive this friday or next week. If you sent a donation via mail please let me know so I can email you back once I received your donation. Further our special offer has been discontinued. If a mail donation is on the way with the current date or earlier, that requests one calendar, you of course still get one.

I was asked if I could may offer other *DAMN merchandising and unfortunaly I have to deny at the moment. May in the future we are able to offer cheap *DAMN cups and such things but not yet.

If you go to our *DAMN Support site you will recognize that I have added a *DAMN G5 Status pic which will be updated after every received donation. Currently I have received 6 donations, one transfer being in progress, they are all much higher than I have ever expected and are approximatly covering 10percent of the new G5. However also small donations help so we can update our hardware as soon as possible. The status pic shows how much I still need before my G5 is complete(currently +/- 65percent done).

If you need another reason to make a donation I have my birthday on friday. I become 21,HELP!!!, wasn't I just 18 when I played R6... ;)

Well please help and we can soon offer a gigantic RvS mod archive as we have it already for R6,RS and GhR.

Last but not least Delsk Restriction mod got updated to version 2.1 and Joe Mac released a very nice mod:

"" *JWM* Desert Siege (Joe Mac's Weapons Mod) gives the host the option of changing from stock weapons to either slightly modded or heavily modded weapons. This can all be done from the Briefing screen in the same way that they would choose a Kit Restriction. ... All three levels of modification have either a No Restriction option for the full effect and a No Support option to help combat lag in larger games."

You can find both at our Mac Downloads.

Bye and thanks for your support,

    *DAMN Mauti
*Update*: Uploaded a new desktop for you ;)
[BHD coming for Mac] - [7.1.2004; 6:54:PM by *DAMN Mauti] - [0]
[WOI 2.4/Africa Korps] - [6.1.2004; 11:02:AM by *DAMN Mauti] - [0]
  • I just got a mail from Mike, the head of the WOI Dev team, that they are working on a special standalone multiplayer edition of WOI that won't need a WOI launcher and will be released together with their next expansion Africa Korps. Further they will try to pay more attention to the Mac Ghost Recon limitations(long filenames,...) so a conversion should be done real fast. An open beta should be released soon and you can download the final version here once it is done. But for the moment get WOI 2.3 at our Mac Downloads.

Thanks to our 2 newest *DAMN supporters Hazard and Alan. Thank you so much for your donation.

    Regards,

    Mauti
[WOI 2.3, Paintball Mod 2,...] - [5.1.2004; 10:21:PM by *DAMN Mauti] - [0]
  • Today I uploaded the Mac version of War of Infamy 2.3 together with the Eastern Front extension and the WOI Iron sights. Further an extreme fun Paintball mod has been added. Few textures doesn't seem to work properly and the PC author left out few textures for his guns however this mod is CQB at its best. Get it.
Last week I also added the excellent mission mod Tactical Gamer 3.0, Mac conversion done by Tim Leary, to our Mac Downloads.

As usual you get all other new mods at our Mac Downloads.

Last but not least we got our first *DAMN supporter 2004 who wants to remain anonymous. Thank you very much for your generous donation.

If you also want to see complete Raven Shield coverage as soon as possible click on the button at your right or click here and help us to upgrade our hardware. Thanks.

    Bye,

    Mauti
